Lawsuit alleges teen wrestler assaulted in December match

teen wrestler – The family of 15-year-old Kallie Keeler sued Washington school districts and education officials after allegations that she was sexually assaulted by a transgender opponent during a December wrestling match. The case was filed in Tacoma this week, with prosecu
For weeks afterward, the details returned in the moments Keeler’s mother watched the video and understood what had happened in the ring.
Now the case has landed in federal court. Attorneys for Stephanie Brown. Keeler’s mother. and the Christian non-profit group Alliance Defending Freedom filed a lawsuit in US District Court in Tacoma on Tuesday over allegations that the 15-year-old was sexually assaulted by a transgender opponent during a December match in Washington state.
The lawsuit does not name either wrestler. But the ADF has identified Keeler as the teen at the center of the complaint. and it says she was matched up “unwittingly” with a transgender rival at the meet. The filing claims that if officials had informed her about the opponent’s gender identity. Keeler “would not have taken the mat.”.
What Keeler says happened next is described in stark terms in the lawsuit. It alleges that the male athlete sexually assaulted her by digitally inserting fingers through her spandex during the bout. The complaint says Keeler’s opponent “shov[ed] his fingers through her spandex clothing. digitally penetrating her vagina. and holding the position for several seconds. ” before Keeler. visibly distressed. shouted to her mother—who was videorecording the match—that the opponent’s fingers were “in my c***hie!”.
To stop the assault, the lawsuit alleges that Keeler allowed the male wrestler to pin her. Shortly afterward, she allegedly learned the athlete was male and “felt violated all over again.”
Footage of the alleged incident was captured on a phone, but authorities have not filed charges. Prosecutors declined to pursue charges last week, stating that the allegations could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The lawsuit also accuses officials of ignoring the family’s complaints.
Brown and Keeler are suing school districts and education officials. and the case has pulled multiple institutions into the spotlight. including the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association. the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. the Puyallup School District. a Rogers High School principal and an Emerald Ridge High School wrestling coach. The Daily Mail sought comment from those parties.
Spokespeople for the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the WIAA declined to comment. A Puyallup spokesperson told Fox News that the district had not yet been served with the complaint before issuing a similar statement: “We are aware of the allegations referenced in your inquiry and are reviewing this matter; however. because this matter involves student privacy considerations and anticipated litigation. we are unable to comment further at this time.”.
Washington’s rules allow student athletes to participate in sports based on gender identity rather than biological gender. The state’s policy puts it at odds with President Donald Trump’s executive order demanding that transgender athletes be barred from girls’ amateur sports.
The allegations have also drawn national attention from public figures. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. long known for her opposition to transgender athletes in girls’ sports. called the situation “appalling” this week and wrote on X on Thursday: “I want those who champion men in women’s sport to explain why they’re happy to put girls at risk like this.”.
Keeler has left the sport, but the lawsuit is being pursued so, as described in this week’s filing, “no one else has to go through this.”

So they didn’t even charge anybody? This sounds like a mess.
I’m not trying to be rude but how was she matched up “unwittingly” if this is wrestling? Like the schools had to know something. Also the ADF part makes it feel political immediately.
Wait I thought it was just a normal wrestling thing and then someone’s fingers got involved?? That’s not like “a little inappropriate,” that’s like assault. But also I keep hearing transgender sports rules and nobody is really explaining what the school did wrong.
All I’m hearing is “transgender opponent” and “federal court” and I already know how this ends. If the system just lets anyone compete then of course this happens. But then again, why is the video the only thing and no charges?? Sounds like everyone dropped the ball, and now it’s just gonna turn into more arguing.
