Kyle Larson crossed the line first at Davenport Speedway in Iowa on Monday night, then turned to the memory of the man who helped shape his own racing journey.
After taking the checkered flag at High Limit Racing, Larson honored the late Kyle Busch by performing his signature “Busch Bow.” The gesture came the same week Larson’s daughter celebrated in victory lane in Nebraska using the Busch Bow during a dirt race.
Larson’s win came on a weekend that mixed sharp competition with a heavy emotional undertone. He led the final 24 laps of the 30-lap sprint, won by more than three seconds, and lapped all but 10 cars in the field.
In the minutes after the victory, Larson said he would convert that momentum into help for families in need. He told reporters he plans to donate his winnings to the Bundle of Joy fund, the charity Busch and his wife Samantha started to support families struggling with infertility.
“This time I’m going to send it to Kyle and Samantha Busch’s foundation, the Bundle of Joy,” Larson said. “We all know how much the Busch family means to all of us and we greatly miss Kyle.”
Larson also indicated there will be a celebration of life for Busch on Tuesday, though no details about the service have been made public.
The timing lands in the wake of new information in Busch’s medical record. Busch’s death certificate reveals the chain of events in his illness that led to his sudden passing. Busch died at the age of 41 on May 21 after complications from severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis. The death sent shockwaves through NASCAR, and drivers have continued to honor him with gestures linked to the Busch Bow.
That momentum was visible in recent races. Denny Hamlin performed his celebratory bow on Sunday night in Nashville, Tennessee after winning the Cracker Barrel 400. Daniel Suarez did the same after taking the checkered flag in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
At Charlotte, Larson went further in a small but unmistakable display. He replaced his traditional name tag atop his door with “Little Kyle,” the nickname that Busch had given him.
Busch is also recorded in the sport’s history books. He is NASCAR’s all-time leader in combined victories across its top three national touring series with 234 wins. He won his final race just six days before his death, driving into victory lane in the Truck Series race at Dover.
Larson’s win in Iowa adds another chapter to a pattern that’s been part of his week-to-week life. While he races in NASCAR’s top-level Cup Series on weekends, he still likes to compete at local dirt tracks during the week in sprint cars.
He is currently the Cup Series champion from last year, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. This year. Larson is sixth in the point standings. has not won a Cup Series race yet. but has two victories in the second-tier O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in the No. 88 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, the team owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Busch’s remains were handled with care, according to the death certificate. He was cremated in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Kyle Larson really out here being nice, love to see it.
Wait so he won and then just… donated the money? Sounds like good PR but I’m not mad. Also I saw something about the Busch Bow and I thought that was like a wrestling thing lol.
I’m confused because the headline says donation after Iowa win but the article is talking about Nebraska and a medical record too. So is the charity tied to infertility or is it tied to his death certificate or what? Either way, Busch Bow on the track is cool.
Man sad about Kyle Busch. But didn’t Larson already do the Busch Bow like a bunch of times? Feels like every time he wins he does some tribute and then everyone claps. Still though, infertility charity is actually good, just hope they really help people and not just “fund awareness” or whatever. Also ‘celebration of life Tuesday’ with no details is kinda sketchy, like why hide it?
