Lamar Jackson dismisses legacy talk as retirement looms
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson says he isn’t thinking about legacy right now, insisting he’ll reflect only when he starts considering retirement. After eight NFL seasons—and with two regular-season MVPs but no Super Bowl appearance—Jackson framed the present
Lamar Jackson is already living inside NFL history, and yet the question he gets most often still won’t stick.
After eight seasons in the league. the Ravens quarterback—who has been a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player—was asked where he ranks among the league’s all-time greats once his career ends. The gap in his résumé is hard to ignore: Jackson has never led the Ravens to the Super Bowl. But when that legacy conversation started, Jackson pushed it back.
“That’s a good question,” Jackson said. “I really don’t have an answer for that question. I was not expecting that. I really don’t think about my legacy. I just try to be the best player I can be. keeping God first and doing what I can do when I can do it. being on the field and just trying to be the best player I can be at every moment.”.
In Jackson’s view, the moment for reflection isn’t today. He said the time to revisit legacy would come later—when the decision point gets closer.
“I don’t really think about my legacy. Probably when I start thinking about retiring, I’ll probably be thinking about that — but not now,” Jackson said.
At 29 years old, Jackson still believes there’s a runway to shape how people remember him. And with that extra time comes the kind of possibility that can change an entire narrative—potentially including a Super Bowl MVP to add to the two regular-season MVPs he already holds.

Legacy? Bro just wants clicks.
I mean he’s right, who wants to talk retirement at 29. But like… if he never gets to a Super Bowl, people are still gonna bring it up. That’s just how it is.
Wait so he’s saying he doesn’t think about legacy but also implying he could change the narrative? That sounds like legacy talk anyway lol. Also MVPs don’t mean anything if you don’t win it all, my uncle said that.
The way he said “keeping God first” makes it sound like he’s gonna magically get a Super Bowl too. I know that’s not how sports works but people will hear what they want. Ravens always have good regular seasons, then poof… playoffs stuff happens. Maybe Harbaugh needs to rethink play calling or something, idk.
