For Kroger shoppers, the message is blunt: check the fridge, then don’t take chances.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for certain store-brand raw boneless chicken breast products. The concern centers on misbranding that results in an undeclared allergen—eggs—that can be especially serious for people with severe allergies.

The affected products contain eggs, but eggs are not declared on the product label. A recall was not requested because the items are no longer available for purchase. Still, the products could remain in some homes, lingering in refrigerators or freezers.

The alert names specific items: 21-ounce vacuum-packed packages of Private Selection Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts with Rib Meat. The “best if used by” date is June 28, 2026. The lot code is 15326A, and the establishment number is P-45288B. The products were produced on June 2, 2026.

Distribution reached Kroger and Fred Meyer stores across nine states: Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Oregon, Tennessee, and Washington.

What went wrong traces back to a labeling mix-up discovered in the store. A store employee noticed that the correct label was applied to the front of the product. but the wrong label was applied to the back—the label that includes the ingredient statement. The retailer notified the producing establishment, and the producing establishment notified FSIS.

So far, the agency says there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions tied to the product. Even so, anyone who believes they may have reacted—or is concerned about a potential reaction—is urged to contact a health care provider.

FSIS also instructs anyone who purchased these products not to consume them. Shoppers should throw the items away or return them to their place of purchase.
