Korda chases first U.S. Women’s Open win Sunday
With the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera set to finish Sunday, June 7, Nelly Korda has birdied her last three holes to share the lead at 6-under, while a tight group of contenders sits within three strokes of the top.
Sunday at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades was built for one kind of feeling: anything can happen fast.
The U.S. Women’s Open concludes Sunday, June 7, and entering the day, ten golfers were within three strokes of the lead. One strong round from someone on the fringe—or one rough stretch from a player high up the board—could swing the entire scoreboard.
All eyes are on world No. 1 Nelly Korda. The three-time major winner has never won the U.S. Open, and that history still hangs over her. She’s been playing the tournament since 2013 and has missed the cut three times since 2020. Last year’s runner-up finish. though. changed the tone for her outlook. and now she’s positioned to chase her first victory.
Entering Saturday’s late surge, Korda struggled to start the round. Then, as the final holes approached, she did the thing she needed most—birdied each of her final three holes to move into a share of the lead at 6-under with Sei Young Kim.
The leaderboard heading into the Sunday finish shows how close the competition has become:
T1. Gaby Lopez (-7) through 14
T1. Chun In-gee (-7) through 13
T1. Nelly Korda (-7) through 13
T4. Charley Hull (-6) through 15
T4. Kim Sei-young (-6) through 13
6. Nasa Hataoka (-4) through 14
Chun In-gee’s run has been steady, and the pressure didn’t seem to rattle her when it came. In the final round, at the sixth hole, her ball landed in the bunker. She set up confidently with one leg resting on the grass above the sand trap. lined up her club. and played her shot. The ball bounced onto the green, rolled toward the hole, and stopped just short of dropping.
Charley Hull made her own statement without waiting around. In the final round, she struck an eagle at the first hole—an early jolt that helped her climb into third place.
The tournament’s stakes are clear, and the viewing schedule makes sure fans won’t have to miss the turning points. Final round coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET on Peacock and continues through 8 p.m. ET. NBC also carries coverage starting at 5 p.m. ET.
The 2026 U.S. Women’s Open is being played at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. California—where. with so many players separated by so little. the champion could be decided by a single swing. a single bad bounce. or a final-hole birdie that arrives just in time for the leaderboard to redraw itself.

Wait so Korda is tied but “first win” like what happened the other times?
Riviera always seems rigged or something lol. Like one bounce and suddenly everyone’s losing. I don’t even watch golf but I saw she birdied last holes so that’s gotta mean she wins right?
Sei Young Kim is right there and they’re both at -7? idk how golf scoring works anymore. But if Korda already missed cuts before, why would this be different? Feels like the article is setting her up to choke.
Charley Hull making an eagle at the first hole is insane but also that doesn’t mean anything if the bunkers are evil 😂. Also Peacock at 3pm?? I’ll just check TikTok highlights and call it a day. Korda better not get into trouble on the back nine again.
