Knife-wielding carjacking leaves Melbourne woman traumatised overnight

knife-wielding carjacking – A 44-year-old woman from Parkdale was carjacked at knifepoint after being ambushed outside a laundromat on Chandler Road in Keysborough about 6am, with a Good Samaritan also threatened as two thieves fled in her car.

A 44-year-old woman from Parkdale has been left traumatised after a carjacking in Melbourne’s south-east in the early hours of this morning, when she was attacked with a knife as she waited in her car.

The woman was sitting in the driver’s seat on Chandler Road in Keysborough at about 6am when a thug ambushed her from behind. She was pulled out of the car and dragged away as she tried to fight back.

Witnesses say the incident was so intense that people were alarmed by how quickly it unfolded. A man ran to help, but a second person with a knife emerged and threatened him before the offenders took off in the woman’s car.

Detectives are now trying to piece together exactly what happened and where the thieves might have gone. The ordeal reportedly lasted less than a minute.

Neither the woman nor the Good Samaritan was physically injured, but the victim was shaken by what occurred. Linda Widdup said the woman was “absolutely traumatised”, adding: “This poor girl was absolutely traumatised.”

Widdup also described how a young man heard the screaming and came running. She said the victim was meant to “just go to do some laundry,” and “look what’s happened.”

The pattern of the attack was swift and escalating, with one knife-wielding offender pulling the woman from the driver’s seat while a second person with a knife threatened the would-be helper before the car was taken.

For now, the woman remains without her car and shaken by the experience, while police work to establish where the thieves fled and how the incident unfolded from start to finish.

  1. I don’t get why she was sitting there alone if it was outside a laundromat. Like couldn’t she just drive off first? Sounds like a nightmare though.

  2. So a Good Samaritan tried to help and then got threatened… but nobody got physically injured? That feels weird to me because knife stuff usually means at least some injury. Either way hope the detectives catch them because it says it was less than a minute which is insane.

  3. This reminds me of that other carjacking story where the victim was basically ambushed the same way. Like why are people waiting in cars at laundromats at all, I’d be paranoid. Also “traumatised” doesn’t even cover it, I’d be replaying that forever. Hope they find her car and those dudes, even if the article doesn’t say where they went.
