Anna Delvey Turns Memoir Plans Into Her Own Narrative

Anna Delvey is setting out to tell her story her way, and the plan is bigger than a single book. TMZ has learned the infamous fake heiress is putting together a memoir and a companion documentary that will chronicle her past, present, and what comes next.

Delvey tells TMZ the projects are meant to span a broad timeline—starting long before her “Fake Heiress” scandal. then moving through her time on “Dancing with the Stars. ” and into her present as she hunkers down in New York under house arrest while her U.S.. immigration proceedings continue regarding her visa status.

She’s already deep into the memoir, saying “a significant part” of it is developed.. Delvey also insists she’s being deliberate about how the story gets packaged.. She tells TMZ she doesn’t want it to become “another ‘crime story’ packaged for entertainment. ” and instead says she’s exploring complicated themes such as “media. perception. ambition. reputation and the economics of attention.”

That framing sits in contrast to how her past is often discussed publicly.. Delvey—whose last name is actually Sorokin—rose to worldwide attention after she was convicted of multiple felony charges. including grand larceny. after accusations that she stole more than $200. 000 from banks. luxury hotels. and individuals who thought she was a wealthy German heiress.. Her story has been widely publicized, including being the subject of the 2022 Netflix doc “Inventing Anna.”

The new projects also come after she has found mainstream visibility again. including landing a recent ad with Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop Home Delivery service.. Still, Delvey says she isn’t trying to follow a straight line toward becoming the next “it-girl” influencer.. Instead. she teases she’s “working on an exciting venture of [her] own. ” adding she’s interested in building intellectual property and creative platforms rather than simply being the face of such things.

If the memoir and documentary ever make it to the big screen, Delvey says she’d love for someone like Jennifer Lawrence to portray her. “We’ll have to ring her up to see if she’s available!” is the approach she leaves hanging for now.

There’s a clear push-and-pull in Delvey’s messaging: she points to a past that has been repeatedly reshaped for public consumption—through the 2022 Netflix doc “Inventing Anna” and the broader “Fake Heiress” narrative—while laying out a new timeline that begins before that scandal and extends into her current house arrest and ongoing U.S.. immigration proceedings, with themes that explicitly target “media” and “economics of attention.”

Delvey’s last word to TMZ is about control and forward motion. “I think I’m rebuilding my life in spite of my past, not because of it.”
