Delta Flight 39 Diverted to Seattle After Disruptive Passenger

Delta Flight – Delta Air Lines confirmed a Los Angeles-to-Shanghai Flight 39 was forced to divert to Seattle after a passenger became disruptive, prompting repeated crew warnings and a decision to land at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

A Delta Air Lines flight headed from Los Angeles to Shanghai was pulled off course after a passenger became disruptive, forcing the crew to change plans in midair.

Delta confirmed Sunday evening that Delta Air Lines Flight 39 ultimately diverted to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.. At the time of the incident, the aircraft was off the coast of Northwest Washington.. Before the diversion, the crew warned the passenger multiple times to comply with flight crew instructions.

A Delta spokesperson said the decision to divert was made “for the safety of the aircraft and passenger.” Once the plane arrived, local law enforcement met the aircraft at the gate, according to Delta.

Delta said it could not confirm what happened to the passenger after the aircraft landed. The airline added that all passengers would have to spend the night in Seattle.

Flight 39 was operated on an Airbus A350-900 with 271 customers, 11 flight attendants, and four pilots on board, Delta said. Delta expects the flight to continue to Shanghai tomorrow.

The sequence is consistent: once the crew warned the passenger multiple times and the aircraft was already off the coast of Northwest Washington. the safety decision led to a diversion to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. where law enforcement met the plane and the passenger’s situation afterward remained unconfirmed by the airline.

  1. So they warned the passenger multiple times but couldn’t say what happened after? That’s kinda sketchy. Hope nobody got hurt.

  2. Idk if it was “safety” or just Delta being Delta. If they were already off the coast of Washington, why not land somewhere closer like Bellingham or whatever. Also Airbus A350 means extra cameras right? They should know.

  3. All night in Seattle?? That seems like punishment for everyone. I feel bad for the crew though like once they start warning, they probably already had enough. Bet it was something stupid like a phone or not sitting down.
