Knicks Radio Hot Mic Blast Taylor Swift at Finals

During Game 4 of the NBA Finals, Knicks lead radio analyst Monica McNutt was caught on a hot mic telling Taylor Swift, “She’s not a Knicks fan, get out of here, girl.” Swift’s longtime Knicks fandom instantly turned the clip into a viral moment, with Barstool

Taylor Swift didn’t even have to pick up a basketball for the NBA Finals to get louder—Game 4’s broadcast booth did it for her.

In the Knicks radio area, lead radio analyst Monica McNutt was caught on a hot mic as members of the broadcast team tried to figure out whether the pop superstar had made it to the arena. Once it was confirmed she was there, the response wasn’t exactly welcoming.

The moment landed on the broadcast and moved fast online. As the group discussed a possible sighting, someone asked, “Is that Taylor Swift down there?” After her presence was confirmed, McNutt didn’t slow down—saying, “She’s not a Knicks fan, get out of here, girl.”

The clip sparked immediate pushback from Swifties, who pointed to Taylor Swift’s long-running Knicks fandom. One viral post tied the exchange to the bigger stress around the team, with Barstool founder Dave Portnoy stepping in to defend Swift.

Portnoy wrote: “Damn. Hate to see [Monica McNutt] hating on Taylor Swift. Lots of new faces in the crowd. Don’t see her singling them out. Knicks are falling apart at the seams.”

For Swift’s fans. the insult landed harder because her arrival had already been one of the most anticipated celebrity moments of the night. Swift’s interest in attending the Finals had been widely expected. and sources familiar with the situation told TMZ she had expressed interest in attending and was expected to be court side for the Finals matchup.

At the time, it was unclear whether soon-to-be hubby Travis Kelce would show up to support the NYC team. Now, it was clear: the outing looked like an all-out girls night. Swift arrived with members of HAIM—sisters Este and Alana Haim.

Even with a seat at the Finals, the booth’s reaction made one thing unmistakable: not everyone in New York sports circles was ready to treat Taylor Swift like a guaranteed Knicks supporter—at least not in real time, not after the hot mic caught McNutt’s words.

  1. I’m sorry but I always knew announcers were petty. Taylor Swift being a Knicks fan shouldn’t even be a debate, like cmon. Also why was the booth even talking about her instead of the game?

  2. So Monica McNutt said “get out of here girl”?? That seems kinda racist or whatever tbh even if it’s not meant like that. And Portnoy defending her like he’s the sports dad… idk man. Maybe Taylor wasn’t even there for basketball reasons, just vibes, then they got mad.

  3. Wild how everyone acting like Knicks are “falling apart” cuz of one sentence. Like the whole arena could’ve been chanting and they’d still pick this clip. I didn’t even watch the finals, I just saw the headline and thought “wow, imagine insulting Taylor Swift in public.” If Travis Kelce came too, that would’ve fixed it right? Or not, because apparently she’s not a fan?? People confuse me.
