Knicks parade turns Broadway into a star-studded victory

Knicks parade – New York Knicks fans poured onto the streets on June 18 for a ticker-tape celebration of the team’s first NBA championship since 1973—drawing a mix of longtime mega fans and major celebrities, from Spike Lee and Mary J. Blige to Timothée Chalamet and Wu-Tang

New Yorkers didn’t just watch the Knicks win on June 13—they walked into the moment the next day.

On June 18. a ticker-tape parade stretched through New York City as fans filled the route in orange and blue to celebrate the franchise’s historic championship. ending a 53-year drought. The procession moved north on Broadway from near Battery Park to City Hall. with teammates including NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson. Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart joined by a crowd of celebrity Knicks fans.

The star power started with the sights around the floats. Proud New Yorkers Mary J. Blige, Timothée Chalamet, Tracy Morgan, Ben Stiller and Fat Joe were spotted along the sidelines and on parade floats. On a float-top performance. the Wu-Tang Clan headlined and were joined by Blige. Fat Joe. Remy Ma. Ja Rule. Teyana Taylor and Yung Miami. among others.

Stiller—who had a courtside view of the Knicks’ postseason run—was seen recording fans from atop a float while wearing a Karl-Anthony Towns T-shirt and a Knicks ballcap.

Chalamet, riding on top of a bus in an orange Knicks zip-up, hyped up the crowd on the mic and led a “Knicks in five” chant. He was also seen on foot along the parade route with a police escort, high-fiving fans.

For Spike Lee, the celebration hit personal depth. The Brooklyn-born director—described as a courtside fixture at Madison Garden for four decades—witnessed the 94-90 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday and told those gathered he was “blessed to be here.” Lee said he had never been to a parade “ever. ” and he was “glad it’s this one.” He added that at age 13 he watched the Knicks win their first trophy during the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers in 1970. Lee rode one of the floats with Brunson. while Morgan—also described as a lifelong Knicks fan—was seen on Brunson’s float.

Even the outfits carried the theme. Jordyn Woods, engaged to Towns, brought her “lucky” orange clutch for the occasion and had “Mrs. Towns” emblazoned on the back of her white pants, paired with a fitted jersey paying homage to her fiancé.

Martha Stewart’s morning began early. In an Instagram post. she described having a “complicated journey” to the parade. saying she left Bedford at 6 a.m. met Knicks owner James Dolan at Madison Square Garden. then boarded a bus with Knicks family members to grab breakfast downtown. Later, she followed up with a view of fans from on top of a double-decker bus on the parade route.

As the team—led by Coach Mike Brown—arrived at City Hall to receive the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Mayor Zohran Mamdani bestowed honorary keys to the city. Mamdani’s wife. Rama Duwaji. appeared at the event in a custom. locally sourced Knicks-inspired ensemble: a one-shoulder. draped dress from Miss Claire Sullivan made of tied upcycled Knicks T-shirts. paired with a voluminous black midi skirt.

Mariska Hargitay joined the City Hall Plaza festivities, where Alicia Keys serenaded the crowd with Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind.”
