By the time New York had finished one of the most dramatic turnarounds imaginable—an astonishing 29-point comeback that lifted the Knicks to a 3-1 lead—some fans were still carrying their anger with them.
A video posted by NBA content creator “KingCharge” shows the Spurs returning to their New York hotel to a hostile crowd. As the team came back beyond barricades, unidentified items were thrown in the direction of Spurs star Victor Wembanyama. In the footage, Wembanyama turns back toward where the objects came from, then is quickly ushered inside by security.
The incident landed amid a Finals run that has already put Wembanyama at the center of heated moments in New York. During Game 3, he shoved Knicks star Jalen Brunson and avoided what many believed should have been a flagrant foul. In Game 4’s first half. he taunted the Knicks after Mitchell Robinson—New York’s center—was given a fragrant foul for a forearm to Wembanyama’s chin.
That pattern of volatility followed Wembanyama onto the floor again on Wednesday. Later in the game. he was assessed a flagrant foul for throwing an elbow at the throat of Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns. The Spurs star now has three flagrant points in the NBA playoffs. If he receives a fourth, he would be suspended.
The sequence is hard to miss: as the Knicks rode their comeback to take control of the series, the escalation around Wembanyama kept widening—from on-court confrontations to crowd hostility after the final whistle.

Fans really throwing stuff now? That’s wild.
So he gets shoved and taunted and then fans are mad and throwing things? I mean I guess everyone’s just escalating for no reason. Knicks should tighten up security or whatever.
I keep seeing “flagrant points” but they never explain it right. If he throws an elbow and then fans throw items… sounds like the league is letting everybody just be reckless. Also Wemby probably shouldn’t turn back like that on camera lol.
This is why I can’t watch the Finals without getting mad. The article says “unidentified items” but it feels like it’s always New York fans doing the most. Then they say he was “stumbling” like that matters? If he’d just stopped shoving Brunson maybe none of this would happen… but who knows, everybody’s biased anyway.
