For the second half of Game 4, the Knicks didn’t just claw back from a 29-point hole — they kept finding just enough offense, just enough stops, and just enough time left on the clock to make it feel inevitable.
On Wednesday, June 10, at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York finished off the improbable comeback, beating the San Antonio Spurs 107-106. OG Anunoby delivered the dagger, hitting a game-winning shot with 1.2 seconds left to put the Knicks up 3-1 in the NBA Finals.
This was the largest comeback in NBA Finals history. and it came with a rare swing in momentum for both teams. It was the first home win of the series for either New York or San Antonio. With the first three games of the matchup decided by road teams. the Game 4 winner — the Knicks — improved to 13-3 in the series.
Anunoby finished with 33 points. Jalen Brunson added 36 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.
The shape of the night made the turning point easier to see. The Spurs and Western Conference champions dominated early, building a 29-point lead. Then the Knicks watched that advantage start to wobble. San Antonio cooled off to start the second half, shooting 6-of-34 (17.6%). The defensive edge sharpened. and a flagrant foul from the Spurs’ side added a jolt as the Knicks kept chipping away.
The Knicks’ comeback is also measured in specific numbers that show how unusual the first half and the collapse were:
— 29 points: the largest comeback in NBA Finals history. — NBA teams were 4-750 in the playoffs when down by 20-plus points in the fourth quarter in the last 30 years. — The Knicks are 5-3 when down 20-plus points in the postseason over the past two years; the rest of the NBA is 4-71 in that situation.
San Antonio didn’t just jump out to a lead. In the first half, it produced startling production before the game flipped:
— 14: the most 3-pointers in a half in Finals history.
— Devin Vassell hit 4.
— De’Aaron Fox hit 3.
— Dylan Harper hit 3.
— Stephon Castle hit 1.
— Julian Champagnie hit 1.
— Victor Wembanyama hit 1.
— Carter Bryant hit 1.
The Spurs’ first-half output stood out on another historic scale:
— 76 points: the third-highest scoring first half in Finals history.
— 41-22 (an 19-point difference): the largest first-quarter lead by a road team in Finals history.
For context, the NBA said the previous record for most 3-point shots in a half was 13, set by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017.
Wembanyama’s name sits across the backdrop of it all, because his play has kept setting records even before Game 4. His postseason has included swatting a record 12 blocks in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals. and becoming the youngest player to post 40-plus points and 20-plus rebounds in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals.
Even with that aura, Game 4 ended with a single moment that New York can’t stop replaying: Anunoby’s shot with 1.2 seconds remaining.
The immediate payoff is clear. The Knicks now lead the series 3-1, and they’ll try to finish the story on the road. Game 5 of the NBA Finals will be at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 13 in San Antonio.

29 points is insane lol how does that even happen
I swear the Spurs always start hot then forget how to shoot. Also OG hitting that late shot like always, but 107-106 is such a weird score.
Largest Finals comeback ever? I’m not buying it because I feel like I heard about another one with like 30+ but maybe that was playoffs not Finals. Either way Anunoby at 33 and Brunson 36… defense too like ok sure.
That 6-of-34 is wild but I think the real reason was the clock management at halftime, like refs probably messed up or something. Flagrant foul swing momentum??? cmon. I just know my cousin texted me “Knicks are back” and then next thing you know they’re up 3-1.
