Kingston Rumi Southwick Wants More Horror in Season 2

Kingston Rumi Southwick, who plays Evan Loftis on Apple TV’s horror comedy series Widow’s Bay, is already lobbying for more classic scares—ghosts, extra witchiness, and an island episode that pushes someone toward madness. The show was renewed for a second sea
When it comes to Widow’s Bay Season 2, Kingston Rumi Southwick isn’t waiting for the writers to surprise him—he’s pitching the surprise.
The 18-year-old actor, who plays Evan Loftis in Apple TV’s horror comedy series, is coming off the news that the show has been picked up for a second season. In that same moment, he let E! News in on what he wants most for his character—especially when it comes to “horror specific things.”
“I didn’t get to do a lot of horror specific things,” he told E! News. “I really want like some dumb something to happen to Evan. Another horror trope.”
If Evan is due for another run-in with genre inevitability, Southwick also has a wish list for what Widow’s Bay can explore next. He’s hoping the show leans deeper into supernatural territory, pointing first to ghosts.
“Ghosts—that I really want to get into,” the actor said. “I know we kind of touched on a witch thing. It would be fun to see Kate do some more witchy things. And then even like a Shining-esque episode, somebody goes stir crazy on the island.”
He wouldn’t say what he already knows about season two, but he didn’t hide his excitement either. “I’m excited for him and it’s going to be a great season,” Southwick said.
The series. which centers on Mayor Tom Loftis. played by Matthew Rhys. is built to make the line between local rumor and reality blur. Tom Loftis is desperate to revive his struggling community—there’s no Wi-Fi and spotty cellular reception. and the locals don’t exactly want to be led by a man they see as soft and cowardly. Their belief that the island is cursed isn’t just superstition to them.
Still, Tom pushes on. He wants the island to become a tourist destination, and in a surprising turn, tourists begin to arrive. It’s the kind of progress that should bring relief—except the old stories were never really dismissed. After decades of calm, the rumors that once sounded too ludicrous to be true start happening again.
That blend of small-town resistance. supernatural dread. and dark comedy is the engine driving Widow’s Bay. and it’s the world Southwick will be returning to as Evan Loftis. Alongside Rhys and Southwick. the cast includes Kate O’Flynn. Stephen Root. Kevin Carroll. Dale Dickey. K Callan. and Jeff Hiller.
Season one is currently streaming on Apple TV.

More ghosts? Please tell me they don’t ruin it with another generic witch thing.
Wait so the island has no Wi-Fi and cell service but tourists still show up like it’s normal? Seems fake. Also why is the mayor pushing it if it’s cursed, like bro stop.
I saw E! mention this and it sounded like the actor is basically writing season 2 himself? Like “he’s pitching the surprise” sounds kinda like he knows the whole plot already. Ghost episode + witchy Kate + “The Shining” vibes?? Sounds cool but I’m confused how they’ll do that without it feeling copied.
Season 2 needs more ‘madness on the island’ yeah but also can they fix the Wi-Fi thing? I mean half the horror stuff is just nobody can stream Netflix lol. Not sure why people don’t believe the curse if tourists are arriving again. Like if the old rumors start again, isn’t that exactly when they should leave? anyway I’ll watch.
