Kings lock Chromiak with one-year two-way deal

The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to a one-year, two-way contract extension with forward Martin Chromiak through the 2026-27 season, paying him an NHL salary of $850,000 after a breakout AHL campaign with the Ontario Reign.
The Los Angeles Kings moved quickly to keep Martin Chromiak in their orbit, agreeing to a one-year, two-way contract extension with the forward that runs through the 2026-27 season.
The deal includes an NHL salary of $850,000, a figure that reflects just how much his game has climbed over the last year. Chromiak, 23, is coming off the best professional season of his career with the AHL’s Ontario Reign.
In 2025-26, he appeared in 71 games and posted career highs across the board: 28 goals, 28 assists and 56 points. He led all Reign skaters in goals, assists and points, and he paced the team again with 12 power-play goals and seven game-winning goals.
Those numbers mattered in the league’s bigger picture, too. His totals placed him among the AHL leaders, with his game-winning goal total tied for third in the league and his power-play goals tied for fourth. When the Calder Cup Playoffs arrived, he added one goal in five games.
The Kings’ decision comes after a steady climb that has turned into a clear breakthrough. Since turning professional in 2022. Chromiak has kept raising his offensive output—going from 28 points (15 goals. 13 assists) in 2022-23 to 32 points in 2023-24. then 39 points in 2024-25 before reaching 56 points in 2025-26.
Over 267 AHL games across parts of five seasons. he has accumulated 76 goals and 79 assists for 155 points. along with 26 power-play goals and 14 game-winning goals. He has also recorded 72 penalty minutes. His playoff production is smaller but present: three points (two goals, one assist) across 10 Calder Cup Playoff appearances.
His path to this new contract also shows why the Kings viewed the timing as right. Originally selected by Los Angeles in the fifth round (128th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft, Chromiak developed in both Slovakia and Canada before reaching the pro ranks.
He played 88 Ontario Hockey League games with the Kingston Frontenacs over two seasons, producing 55 goals and 119 points. His standout 2021-22 season came with 44 goals and 86 points in 60 games, leading the team in goals and finishing among the OHL’s top scorers.
Before returning to North America full-time, he spent parts of three seasons with HC Dukla Trencín in Slovakia’s premier professional league, tallying 12 goals and 26 points in 66 games.
On the international stage, Chromiak has represented his country in five IIHF tournaments, including three Men’s World Championships. Most recently, he collected six points—four goals and two assists—in seven games at the 2026 IIHF World Championship.
With this extension now in place through 2026-27, the Kings are betting that the upward trajectory that carried him to his latest contract—especially the 2025-26 Ontario Reign surge—can follow him as he moves toward his next NHL opportunity.
