Kincaid skips knee surgery, says he feels strongest

Dalton Kincaid walked into this offseason with the same left-knee issue that has followed him for two seasons: a PCL injury. But when it came time to decide what came next, the plan changed.

The Bills tight end did not go under the knife this offseason to address the tear. Kincaid said doctors “advised against it” and instead prescribed “setting a good foundation for strength around the knee to support it. ” choosing rehab and preparation over surgery. For Kincaid, the early returns have been more than just encouraging.

“I’d say it’s probably the best I’ve felt in my career at this point in the year,” Kincaid said, via Tim Graham of TheAthletic.com. He added, “Just not having those thoughts of the knee, especially last year. At this point, I feel really good. I’m not even thinking about it out there.”

Those words land with weight because of what has come before. Kincaid dealt with the PCL problem through his first two NFL seasons, and the production tells part of the story. As a rookie, he totaled 73 catches while appearing in every game. Over the last two seasons, he has added 83 catches while missing nine games.

The Bills, though, have still shown they believe the next chapter can be steadier—enough to bet on it with real commitment. The team exercised its option on his contract for the 2027 season.

Right now, Kincaid’s message is that the knee is no longer dominating his thoughts. If he can keep feeling the way he described—healthy enough to stay on the field—then the risk the Bills took by moving forward can look like exactly the kind of decision teams hope to make.

  1. So he skipped surgery… and now he feels “strongest”? Sounds like he’s just toughing it out lol.

  2. I don’t really get the PCL thing but if doctors advised against surgery then okay. Still wild the Bills are betting on him with that option for 2027.

  3. Wait reply to this—didn’t they say PCL injuries are basically career killers? Like I saw somewhere knee surgery was the only fix, so now he’s just doing rehab and magically it’s fine? I hope it works but it feels too good to be true.

  4. The best part is he’s not thinking about the knee out there… which is good because I swear athletes always jinx themselves with “it doesn’t hurt” comments. Also 73 catches as a rookie and then added more while missing games like… yeah that’s still kinda proving it. Bills really said rehab > surgery though, bold.
