Keith Duffy shuts down Coronation Street return talk

Boyzone’s Keith Duffy has shot down rumours of a Corrie return. The Irish star, who had several stints on the Cobbles as hunky barman Ciaran McCarthy, says he has no interest in a Weatherfield comeback. Fan speculation began after a scene at the back of the Rovers Return pub showed Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) making a joke about Ben (Aaron McCusker) liking Boyzone as a kid. Ben then replied: “Thanks for that Ma!” But Keith, 51, told us exclusively that he is not going to
make a return. Keith – who last appeared on the ITV soap in 2011 – said: “Somebody sent [the clip] to me, that’s the only reason I saw it! “I did kind of think, ‘That’s a bit bizarre’ because I was the barman in the Rovers, Pauline was in the Rovers as her character talking about Boyzone, there were so many coincidences at the same time.” “I kind of wondered what was going on. “Maybe it was the writers having fun?” But he sadly confirmed:
“I’ve no plans to go back. So no, there’s no will to go back.” Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here .
