The KCCA Panthers have surged back into contention in the National Basketball League, securing their third consecutive win by defeating the Kampala Rockets.

No doubt their mojo is back, and with it a healthier spot in the rankings.. Davis Asiimwe, that ever-reliable cog in the KCCA backcourt, dropped a team-high 17 points while three
teammates finished with double figures to power the Panthers past the doomed Kampala Rockets yesterday.. KCCA improved to 10-7, as the Rockets (led by Brian Opio with a game-high 21 points) fell to 2-13.. Imran Samad and Stanley Mugerwa sank 12 points apiece, with the latter adding nine rebounds.. Laul Akok scored 10 points for the Panthers, who lost the first quarter 20-15 and the third frame 16-18 but were dominant enough in the other
two to seal the deal.. The victory moved Raymond Muhumuza’s men to third in the rankings, or be it with two games and three losses more than the fourth-ranked Rezlife Saints.. Edward Mugabo and Gideon Kasasa had 14 and 12 points for the Rockets, who are rooted to the bottom of the NBL and are surely headed for relegation.
