Las Vegas became the center of a new legal fight involving TLC’s Karen Derrico after her arrest, with prosecutors alleging her ex-husband and their children were the targets of death threats.

Karen Derrico has been charged after what prosecutors describe as threatening conduct aimed at Deon and the couple’s 14 kids. In new legal documents. she was charged with harassment. violating a restraining order. preventing a witness from testifying through threat of violence. and aggravated stalking.

The allegations trace back to emails prosecutors say Karen sent to Deon. Prosecutors allege the messages told Deon she could kill him and that she didn’t care about going to jail. Prosecutors also allege she threatened to “kill any of the kids” who sided with Deon during their split. and threatened to kill Deon if he showed up for a court hearing tied to the restraining order he filed against her.

Deon’s role in the legal timeline matters here: he filed for the restraining order because of the alleged threats. As the situation escalated, he also filed a police report, which included the alleged threatening emails.

The dispute sits on top of a custody and cohabitation arrangement that already complicated their divorce. Karen and Deon divorced in the summer of 2024, after splitting legal and physical custody of their 14 children. Even after the divorce. they continued to live together for financial reasons and so the large family could remain “one unit. ” according to a source close to Deon. Earlier this year, Karen allegedly moved out with four of the children as it became clear they would not reconcile.

Karen’s attorney, Jess Marchese, disputes the claims. Marchese says Deon sent the threats to himself and made it look like they were from Karen to “screw her over,” and that the defense is working with tech experts to prove it.

Karen also maintains her innocence, saying she is totally innocent and would never threaten to harm her children.

Marchese says Karen is out on a $2,000 bond and has been outfitted with an ankle monitor.

Karen Derrico and Deon also remain familiar to viewers through TLC’s “Doubling Down With the Derricos,” a show that followed their chaotic family life with 14 children. The fifth and final season aired in 2024.

For now, the case is defined by the clash between prosecutors’ allegations of threatening emails and a defense claim that those threats were fabricated through a digital setup—while the underlying question for the court is straightforward: who made the threats, and what happens next.
