Man City seal £116m Elliot Anderson deal

Man City – Manchester City have agreed a £116million deal with Nottingham Forest to sign England midfielder Elliot Anderson. With Anderson in the United States at the World Cup, City expect his medical to be arranged over the coming days while he remains focused on Engla
By the time Elliot Anderson steps out of his team hotel and into matchday routines with England, Manchester City’s next chapter is already moving behind the scenes.
City have agreed a deal worth £116million with Nottingham Forest to make Anderson their first signing of the post-Pep Guardiola era. The 23-year-old is currently in the United States at the World Cup. and a medical will now be arranged there or scheduled for the next suitable window—City expect the move to be completed over the coming days.
Anderson is nursing a slight glute concern ahead of England facing Panama on Saturday. The issue is not thought to be serious, and no scan has been necessary so far. Those around the situation have treated the timing of the transfer completion as manageable. with Anderson’s focus remaining on the World Cup.
City were believed to have agreed an initial £106million fee with Forest last week. Earlier this month. Daily Mail Sport reported that Evangelos Marinakis was looking to secure a British-record £130m for the midfielder after add-ons. Those add-ons—and exactly how they are built—were at the centre of negotiations between the two clubs over the past few days. including the timeframe in which they would be paid down.
After talks broke through, City sources stress that the deal is a straight one-off payment. They are also playing down the notion that City have eclipsed the £125m Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak.
For Anderson personally, the picture is already clear. He has made it known that City was his preferred destination, and personal terms have been agreed. With England boss Thomas Tuchel having already said he would facilitate summer transfers of players in his squad. arrangements around Anderson are now being put in place. Personal terms will not be an issue.
Even with the World Cup demanding attention, the financial weight of the move is hard to ignore. Anderson will become the most expensive English footballer of all time ahead of Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham.
One detail that simplifies City’s end of the deal: there is no sell-on clause for Newcastle. Newcastle sold Anderson to Forest for £35m in 2024 as they scrambled to avoid breaching PSR rules. and that chapter is now closed as Forest prepare to cash in—one of the final hurdles between Anderson and a City debut in the early days of the new era.

£116m is insane. Like who even has that kind of money lol
So they’re doing his medical over in the US while he’s playing World Cup? That seems backwards. Also glute concern but no scan?? hope he’s good.
I don’t get the whole “no sell-on clause” thing. Didn’t Newcastle own him or something? If Newcastle sold him for 35m then why wouldn’t they get a cut on the 116m? Seems like Forest should’ve paid more to Newcastle or whoever.
This is basically City buying a midfielder in the middle of international duty and people are acting like it’s normal. Also it says Tuchel will facilitate transfers so why wasn’t this already done earlier? And the add-ons stuff… like what even are the add-ons if they say it’s a straight one-off payment? sounds like media confusion.
