Justgirlythings creator Becky Campos finally steps into light

Becky Campos, the creator behind the nostalgic Tumblr account “justgirlythings,” has revealed herself publicly after years of anonymity—walking through how the page took off, why teens connected to it, and what she’s building next.
The first time many people saw “justgirlythings,” it wasn’t a face staring back from the screen. It was a photo—sometimes a simple stock image, sometimes something pulled from the internet—and a one-line caption that felt like it belonged in the middle of an ordinary day.
For years, the person behind that feed stayed offstage. Now, 29-year-old Becky Campos is stepping forward, explaining how she built the nostalgic Tumblr page and why it landed so hard with preteens and teen girls long before the influencer economy fully took shape.
“In 2011. when I was posting… I look back now and I’m like. ‘Oh yeah. that was cringey and I would never post that. ‘ but I feel like at the time it was nice because we just got a community of a bunch of girls or people that I feel like related to the things we were all going through at the time. ” Campos said. “That felt really cool to me.”.
The reveal gained momentum after Campos shared a video showing her wife, Chelsi, reacting to old “justgirlythings” posts. As of May 19, that clip had more than 720,000 likes on Instagram.
The official Tumblr account responded with “tumblr hall of famer!!!” while tech journalist Taylor Lorenz wrote “NO WAY.”
