Joy Behar Snaps at Co-Hosts Over JD Vance

Joy Behar insists she wasn’t “in love” with JD Vance, after the vice president joked he and Behar are “best friends now.” On Friday, Behar snapped at her co-hosts while discussing how Vance’s charm played out on “The View.”

Joy Behar didn’t just disagree with her co-hosts on Friday morning—she shut it down hard.

During JD Vance’s appearance on “The View” earlier this week. he leaned into humor while responding to criticism that he lacks experience to handle the Iran deal. pointing to the show as an example. Vance joked that Behar is “way tougher than the Iranians,” then added that he and Behar “are best friends now.”.

That line didn’t sit well once the panel revisited the clip on Friday. Sunny Hostin watched it and reacted with disbelief, saying, “We were more difficult to deal with than the Iranian government?”

Eventually, the conversation turned directly to Behar—how much she was, or wasn’t, affected by Vance’s charm.

“I want to know, why were you so — why were you so in love with JD Vance?” Hostin pressed.

Behar’s response was immediate and pointed. “I wasn’t in love — look, I’m not in love with him, and I’m not in love with this administration,” she retorted. “You are watching me on this show.”

Ana Navarro stepped in with a more measured defense, pointing to what Behar did during Vance’s visit. Navarro said Behar offered him a backhanded compliment. telling him he was “pretty good. for a Republican.” Navarro also agreed with the idea that Behar had been pulled into a tactic—just not in the way Vance wanted.

“Listen, he came in strategically prepared to disarm us with niceness,” Navarro said. “He came in being affable, and laughing easily, and being very nice. I mean, it worked on you, didn’t work on me.”

“It didn’t work on me either,” Hostin added.

But when Alyssa Farah Griffin tried to jump in, Behar took a beat—then snapped back.

“It did not work on me, Ana,” she said firmly.

Hostin agreed and doubled down, prompting Behar to go even further. She said her approach to guests was shaped by years on “The View,” including the period when Barbara Walters was in charge.

“It did not. I respect the office,” Behar insisted. “I’m a civilized human being, when someone comes on my show, then you treat them like a human being!”

The moment made it clear that the question wasn’t really about whether Vance was likable—it was about whether Behar felt misread afterward, and whether her co-hosts were willing to stop insisting on the “best friends” framing.

“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.

  1. Joy was acting like she didn’t care but you can tell she cared lol. “best friends” is a weird thing to say on live TV.

  2. Sunny really said that about Iran? Like come on. I feel like this is all just talk show drama and politics mixed together.

  3. So did Vance like… flirt with her or something? I’m confused bc they keep saying “not in love” but then it sounds like he disarmed them with niceness? I guess that’s just charm? Either way I don’t think the Iran deal matters on The View.

  4. Joy Behar is mad because they’re comparing her to “best friends now”?? I mean she’s always mean to guests anyway, so why act surprised. Also they keep mentioning Barbara Walters like that explains anything. Feels like everyone’s just trying to win the argument about who got played, which is probably none of them because it’s a TV segment.
