Joy Behar didn’t just criticize New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart’s politics — she tied it to race and football fallout, pushing the controversy surrounding Dart’s MAGA introduction into something far louder.
The 83-year-old co-host. speaking in the context of Dart’s appearance at a rally in Suffern. New York. called the Giants signal-caller “the definition of stupidity and racist.” Her comments followed Dart’s role at Rockland Community College on Friday. where the 23-year-old introduced President Donald Trump for a stump speech.
Dart’s night quickly became the kind of moment that follows players back into the building. After introducing the “45th and 47th President of the United States of America. ” Dart led the crowd in a “Go Big Blue!” chant before Trump took the stage. Trump walked on to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA,” then hugged Dart. Trump later described Dart as a “future Hall of Famer.”.
The reaction from the Giants locker room — and from the public — widened from there. Abdul Carter, a teammate, commented on a clip of Dart’s interaction with the president, writing: “Thought this s*** was AI, what we doing man”.
Behar then went further than Carter’s teammate-side shock. She first reflected on the idea of viewpoint freedom after co-host Whoopi Goldberg said: “Isn’t he entitled to his [views]?” But Behar’s response turned into a direct attack on Dart’s endorsement.
“For somebody to back a guy like Trump. whose history in discrimination and racism goes back to housing discrimination in the ’70s. DEI attacks. and posting pictures of the Obamas as apes… when he’s on a team that’s 55 to 60 percent of the NFL. that much percentage of black people. that is just the definition of stupidity and racist in my opinion. ” Behar said.
Behar also suggested that Dart could face stronger pressure on the field because of the politics. She indicated Dart “may need a little extra padding” and implied opposition players would target him more aggressively.
Online, the clip drew immediate fury from people who said the criticism shouldn’t be framed through identity. One user wrote: “This c**p has to stop!. Stop demonizing people for their beliefs!!” Another added: “She might be surprised at how many of those black players might possibly be Trump supporters. But that’s something Joy can’t fathom.” A third said: “Always talking about race. Always bringing up race. Continuously keeping race an issue when it’s literally not an issue. God for bid people have different opinions. Nasty people,” while a fourth wrote: “These ladies are ridiculous. They are so out of touch with reality.”.
Dart’s choice to introduce Trump was also described as a shock for a job that doesn’t normally land like this. His moment with Trump included Trump’s remarks about Dart’s body: “I’m looking at Jaxson… I’m looking at the legs there. He’s this beautiful guy. He’s got legs like tree trunks. This is not a good thing for women.”.
For new Giants head coach John Harbaugh, the timing carries extra weight. Any unrest among players would be the last thing he wants as he prepares for his first season in charge. Dart and Carter are both expected to be key figures if Harbaugh is going to push the team toward a turnaround.
Still, the loudest in-stadium response in the public record came from inside the team’s social circle. Former Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes quickly defended Dart after Carter’s post. He wrote: “The locker room is a sacred place because it brings together everyone from all walks of life and beliefs for one common goal. Calling a teammate out publicly for his political views and to get attention is nasty work.”.

Joy Behar needs to chill, he just said Go Big Blue.
So she called him racist for introducing Trump?? I mean I get it but football players are always getting pulled into stuff. Also the article says “stupid” like girl??
Wait I thought it was already proven the whole AI thing?? Like Abdul Carter said it was AI, so maybe the clip was fake and everyone jumped on her. But then again, if Trump hugged him… idk, sounds staged. Behar just says stuff to get clicks half the time.
Behar saying racist and stupid is crazy. I don’t even know what Dart is supposed to have done besides introduce him, like isn’t that just a job? And Trump describing him as a Hall of Famer?? That alone makes the whole thing feel like politics shoved into sports, which is why I’m tired of it. Also “DEI attacks” and “housing discrimination in the 70s” like how does that connect to a college intro in Suffern? It’s all a mess.
