Josh Allen backs DJ Moore as Bills’ next star
Josh Allen says DJ Moore will be a “huge help” to the Bills, praising the veteran receiver’s leadership and production as Buffalo looks for its first 1,000-yard wideout since Stefon Diggs left.
Josh Allen didn’t talk around it. For a Bills offense that has lacked a 1,000-yard wide receiver since Stefon Diggs departed, the expectation now has a name: DJ Moore.
Allen believes Moore can help change the math. “I think what DJ’s going to bring to us, obviously veteran leadership,” Allen told NFL Media. “He’s been in the league as long as I’ve been in the league. and he’s produced at such a high level for the last eight years. Just really getting to know him. We’re locker mates, and to have that relationship that we already have, it’s a pretty seamless fit. I’m excited to continue to get to work with him. He’s going to be a huge help for us this next season and seasons to come.”.
The Bills’ need isn’t theoretical. Khalil Shakir led the team with 821 receiving yards in 2024 and 719 last season. and Buffalo has gone without a 1. 000-yard wide receiver since Diggs’ exit. Allen also pointed to what comes next on a personal level for Moore: Moore hasn’t had a 1. 000-yard season since 2023. but he posted 966 yards in 2024. If things click the way Allen hopes. this could become the first 1. 000-yard target since 2023. with Moore’s next breakout season in reach.
What makes Allen’s optimism land harder is Moore’s track record in the red-zone and on the stat sheet. In eight seasons, he has four 1,000-yard seasons and 8,213 career receiving yards. He’s also had six or more touchdowns in each of the past four seasons.
Moore is stepping into a wide receivers room already crowded with familiar names and a few new faces. That group includes Shakir, Tyrell Shavers, Josh Palmer, Keon Coleman, and rookie Skyler Bell. Shakir’s recent production offers a baseline for what Buffalo has managed through its passing attack. while Moore brings a résumé built for heavier volume.
The sequence of expectations is clear: the Bills want a first 1,000-yard wide receiver since 2023, and Moore has the tools to answer that specific gap—especially with Allen saying their on-field connection could come fast because they’re “locker mates.”

So Moore is basically replacing Diggs? I mean hope it works out.
They’ve been saying “next star” for years lol. If Josh Allen trusts him then okay, but I’m still waiting for that 1,000-yard receiver to actually happen.
locker mates already is wild like they’re best friends or something. Also Moore hasn’t hit 1,000 since 2023 but they’re acting like it’s guaranteed. Bills WR room is stacked? Shakir got hurt or what because he had decent numbers.
Every time I hear “veteran leadership” it sounds like the offense is gonna stay the same. Like Moore gonna save them in the red zone too? He never gets targets down there in my memory, but maybe that’s wrong. Either way crowded room means someone’s gonna get squeezed, and I feel like it might be Shakir.
