For Joey Chestnut, July 4 doesn’t just come with the noise of Coney Island crowds—it comes with probation paperwork.
Chestnut will compete at the annual Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest under unusual circumstances, after pleading guilty to a criminal misdemeanor charge of battery resulting from bodily injury. Court records show he received 180 days of probation.
“I have no restrictions,” Chestnut said.
