Jets work out three kickers, including Justin Tucker

The Jets are desperate for a kicker. So desperate that Justin Tucker was among the kickers who worked out for the team on Wednesday.

Michael Badgley and Josh Karty also were at the Jets’ team facility, according to Jordan Schultz of The Schultz Report.

Last season, the Jets had Nick Folk, who went 28-of-29 on field goals with a long of 58, but the team chose to let him walk in free agency.

Jason Sanders beat out Cade York for the job but then missed a field goal and an extra point in Friday’s preseason game against the Giants. Sanders is on the practice squad, and they claimed Blake Grupe off waivers earlier this week.

Tucker, a five-time first-team All-Pro, served a 10-game suspension to start last season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. After he was reinstated, Tucker had tryouts with the Saints and Colts but was not signed.

Multiple women accused Tucker of misconduct during massage-therapy sessions. He denied the allegations, and he was never charged criminally nor sued civilly.

Badgley kicked in seven games for the Colts and two for the Bills last season and has made 83.2 percent of his career field-goal attempts with a long of 59. He has made 94 percent of his extra points.

Karty has made 79.6 percent of his field-goal tries with a long of 58 yards and is 88.7 percent on extra points in 25 career games with the Rams. Los Angeles cut him after eight games last season.
