New York Jets cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers was taken to a hospital via ambulance after passing out during a joint training camp practice, coach Aaron Glenn said.
Stiggers received medical attention after returning to the sideline, Glenn said, but was later conscious and talking. The Jets’ Aug. 11 practice was the first of a two-day joint session against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whom the team will face in a preseason game on Aug. 14.
“I want to make sure I see him after this, just to make sure I’m good with everything,” Glenn said in a news conference after practice. “But for the most part, he was good.”
Stiggers, 24, enters his third year as a backup in a remade Jets secondary. The former Canadian Football League standout, who never played college football, started four games last season but has made his most significant contributions on special teams.
The joint practice was marked by a series of skirmishes between the two teams. Glenn, however, praised his group for largely keeping its composure.
“I didn’t like everything about how practice was today,” Glenn said. “Obviously, there’s gonna be some dust-ups. That happens in every joint practice. But I thought the guys did a really good job of forgetting about it, going to the next play and continuing to practice.”
