Exclusive: USS Lincoln to dock in Thailand
Crew members aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln finally have a port call scheduled, according to texts sent to family members and shared with USA TODAY. The Lincoln has a planned stop in Thailand in early September, the texts say. The aircraft carrier is sailing home after an extended, record-setting deployment in the Middle East amid the U.S. war in Iran.
USA TODAY spoke with family members who expressed frustration about the lack of clear timelines for when their relatives would return.

An emergency C-section and a mother’s death
On Nov. 12, 2023, Ashley Griego arrived at Lovelace Women’s Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for a scheduled labor and delivery. Complications from the medication led to an emergency C-section that Griego ultimately did not survive, according to a lawsuit filed on behalf of her estate. Griego’s family is now fighting for answers.
