Marcello Hernández, Kam Patterson, Ben Marshall joke about ‘SNL’

“Saturday Night Live” is back!
The late-night sketch show has revealed its first set of hosts and musical guests for its upcoming 52nd season, which premieres Sept. 26 on NBC.
The season premiere will be hosted by New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson, solidifying his role as “King of New York” after winning the 2026 NBA Finals, with musical guest KATSEYE. Both Brunson and KATSEYE are first-timers at “SNL.”
The following week, Dakota Johnson will take over as host for the third time with musical guest Turnstile on Oct. 3. They’ll be followed by another three-time host, Shane Gillis, on Oct. 10, with musical guest Rosalía.
And “Obsession” actress Inde Navarrette is making her hosting debut on Oct. 31, the Halloween episode, with musical guest Gracie Abrams.
No additional “SNL” hosts or musical guests have been announced. Prior to the annual summer hiatus, Will Ferrell most recently took the stage at Studio 8H on May 16 with musical guest Paul McCartney. Bad Bunny hosted the premiere episode of Season 51 in October 2025.
Other Season 51 hosts included first-timers like Sabrina Carpenter and Glen Powell, as well as returning stars like Amy Poehler, Melissa McCarthy and Ariana Grande.
“SNL” looks to be returning this year with less cast turnover than in 2025. Ahead of the season, Chloe Fineman announced her departure from the show. The comedian, who joined “SNL” as a featured player in 2019, shared the news on Instagram in July.
“After 7 wonderful seasons at SNL I have decided it’s time for my next chapter,” she wrote alongside photos from her time on the NBC show. “It’s cliche to say this but working at SNL has been the greatest privilege of my life. I still can’t really believe I got to be a part of it.”
Martin Herlihy exits ‘SNL’ weeks before season premiere
Writer and Please Don’t Destroy star Martin Herlihy is also set to exit the series after five seasons, USA TODAY understands. The former cast member appeared on screen for four seasons as part of the sketch trio before transitioning to the writing staff, only appearing occasionally onscreen in Season 51.
USA TODAY has reached out to NBC for comment.
No additional casting changes have been announced, and in a July interview with USA TODAY, Kam Patterson, who joined the show in 2025, confirmed he’ll be back for the new season.

“SNL” will return with three straight weeks of episodes beginning Saturday, Sept. 26, before returning with a Halloween episode to end October.
