When Jacksonville kicked off its eagerly awaited 2026 schedule release video on Thursday night, quarterback Trevor Lawrence ended up becoming the bigger talking point.
In the team’s inventive short titled “The Cut. ” Lawrence sits in a barbers’ chair as a barber in a Jaguars jersey drapes him in a Jaguars-themed cape.. For a moment, the camera lingers on his trademark flowing blond locks before the scissors start work.. Huge clumps of hair tumble to the floor as the Jaguars’ schedule begins to appear onscreen. with glimpses of upcoming games flashing as the cut continues.
But once the video reaches its finish, fans say the result is jarringly different from what they expected. Lawrence is shown spun around at the end with a sharply cut style that left many viewers stunned.
Social media quickly filled with mockery.. One fan wrote: “Ok this cut is hideous.. Please be a joke”.. Another added: “That gotta be a wig.. I don’t even hate Trevor Lawrence this much to give him that bad of a haircut”.. Several echoed the theme in harsher terms, with one saying, “Man that cut is atrocious,” while another called it “brutal.”
A number of fans went further, claiming it had to be fake. Some suggested it was a wig, while others accused the Jaguars of an AI stunt. To confront the skepticism, the Jaguars posted a photo of Lawrence in his new look with the caption: “AI could never.”
The reactions weren’t just jokes about style, either. One particularly disgruntled Jaguars fan even declared their season “over” before it had started.
The haircut backlash also comes after Lawrence’s wife, Marissa, teased the idea earlier this week by sharing a picture showing clumps of hair on the floor.
Lawrence and Marissa are high school sweethearts who met in 2016. They got engaged in 2020 and married a year later. In January 2025, they welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Shae Lynn.
On the field, Lawrence was taken by the Jaguars with the No.. 1 overall pick out of Clemson in the 2021 NFL Draft.. Last season marked the second time he led Jacksonville to the playoffs. and after their 2022 run ended with the Jaguars losing to the Buffalo Bills in the first round. the pressure will be even higher as the franchise leans into its 2026 schedule release moment.
