Jacob Roloff’s local politics leap sparks online buzz

Little People Big World’s Jacob Roloff appears to be edging into local politics, with his wife Isabel Roloff crediting his growing involvement, public speaking, and traction from his city council videos. She says friends have noticed and encouraged him to run.

Jacob Roloff has never exactly been a stranger to attention. Fans first met him in 2006 on TLC’s Little People Big World. But this week, the spotlight is shifting—from the farm and the screen to local politics.

On Friday, June 5, Isabel Roloff announced on Instagram that her husband is getting more involved in local political life. “Amidst the busy season on the farm. I have been quietly watching from the sidelines as Jacob gets more and more involved in local politics. ” she wrote. adding that she’s been surprised by how confidently he speaks in public.

In her caption. Isabel looked back to the early days of their relationship. saying he used to be shy “when we first started dating. ” and that she “never imagined he would be able to do that.” She described the way Jacob has been showing up for public speaking lately—“surprising everyone with his eloquence”—and the intensity of his focus on the topics he talks about.

Her post also acknowledged what this shift means for their day-to-day lives. “Obviously he’s been busier than ever and it means less time for us,” Isabel wrote. Still, she said she’s proud of the way he pursues his interests, “often multiple at a time.”

Isabel didn’t stop at the personal side. She pointed to social media momentum. saying people are noticing his videos from city council because they get a lot of traction online—and that “his voice is finally being heard.” She added that friends and others in his life have been reaching out. saying they’ve seen videos of him speaking recently and “they’re proud of him.”.

Then came the clearest sign of support for a political move. Isabel wrote that many folks encouraged him to run for some kind of local position, and she closed with, “He definitely has my vote.”

She urged her followers to watch for themselves, telling them to “check out @hillsboroherald” to see videos featuring Jacob, and also to check out “@kevinhfoster’s page as well for more.”

Jacob’s potential political path would place him among a growing group of reality TV stars who have turned their fame into political ambition. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. for example. told local New Jersey outlet News 12 on May 28 that he wants to “save lives for the next three to five years. with Archangel centers.” He said he’d like to have “an Archangels center in every 50 states [sic]. ” and after that. he suggested. he would “introduce everybody to Governor Situation.”.

When asked whether he would enter politics as a Republican or Democrat, Sorrentino, 43, kept the details guarded. “I can’t announce it yet, but, uh, I think the, uh, residents of New Jersey would like no property tax,” he responded.

Other reality TV figures have also pursued elected office. The source of attention here includes current President Donald Trump, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, and The Hills alum Spencer Pratt—who is currently running for mayor of Los Angeles.

  1. I didn’t even realize Jacob was involved in local politics. Seems like he’s just getting famous off TLC again, but whatever, if he can speak then good for him? Also “less time for us” is kind of a wild way to talk about running for office.

  2. Wait so is he running for governor or like… mayor? People keep saying city council but I saw a clip and thought it was just commentary videos. If he’s getting traction online then yeah, politicians do that now. Not sure why they’re calling it “eloquence” tho, sounds like PR for the show.

  3. Honestly I’m shocked he was “shy” before, but it’s also not like politics is hard if you have a built-in audience. Next thing you know he’ll be making TikToks about potholes and calling it reform. Friends “encouraged him” too—who are these friends like local donors or just fans? I’m not saying he can’t do it, I just don’t trust the whole spotlight-to-office pipeline.
