It’s time to stop mailing paper checks

Every time you send a paper check in the mail, consumer advocates say, you’re putting your bank account at risk. 

Check fraud is rising, even as the number of checks in circulation is declining. In 2025, federal data shows, Americans lost more money to check fraud than to debit card or gift card scams.   

The spiraling cost of youth sports

Youth sports keep kids busy, helping them build relationships and healthy lives.

But the costs associated with youth sports have increased to a point, Betty Lin-Fisher reports, where parents are questioning whether they can keep their kids enrolled. 

Gen X is still getting over the Great Recession

For its current financial worries, Generation X blames inflation. And the COVID-19 pandemic. And the Great Recession of 2008. And the dot-com bubble of the late 1990s. 

In fact, Gen X faces a laundry list of economic setbacks.
