Flock Safety says a new update will crack down on police officers who misuse license plate reader data.
One of the conversations happening across the country right now is about the recent rash of news around the use of Flock cameras.
News of misuse by law enforcement, both local and federal. Reports of the cameras being sabotaged. New groups are forming nationally to push back against the cameras. And even President Donald Trump is saying he might weigh in in the “coming weeks.”
The reaction has forced Flock Safety, the company behind the cameras, to announce some changes to how its data is accessed. The company says it has more than 120,000 cameras in use in 49 states. This means that there is a very good chance your state has these cameras and that you’ve driven by one. It has to be said that the cameras have also been used to help law enforcement solve or fight crimes.
