Ireland weather: Grey start to June brings isolated storms

Met Eireann have warned of a less than ideal start to June. The summer has kicked off on a grey and dull note with widespread showers across the country , and there won’t be much improvement over the coming days. Thunderstorms are also expected in certain areas. In their overview for the days ahead, Met Eireann have written: “Unsettled for the first week of June with rain or showers each day and breezy conditions at times.” See the full forecast for the week below. morning will be dull with rain and drizzle spreading northeastwards, turning heavy in the south and southwest with the chance of an isolated thunderstorm. Some mist and fog will linger too. The rain will clear to scattered showers in the afternoon, some heavy in the east. Highest temperatures of 14 to 20 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds. Tonight will be cloudy overall with occasional clear spells and scattered showers, some heavy. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in a light southwesterly breeze.

Tomorrow will be largely cloudy with the best of the sunny spells in the east. Scattered showers will continue to spread from the west, some turning heavy with the chance of an isolated thunderstorm in the east and northeast. Showers will become isolated by evening. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds. Dry for most at first with clear spells and isolated showers overnight. Cloud will thicken from the west overnight, bringing rain and drizzle to most areas. Lowest

temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with light southerly winds increasing moderate to fresh overnight. A breezy day on Wednesday with rain and drizzle at first, clearing to showers and sunny spells through the morning. A longer spell of rain will develop in the south and southwest later. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds. Cloudy with showers during the night, and possibly a longer spell of rain in the south. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with

moderate southwest winds veering westerly and increasing moderate to fresh overnight. Thursday will be cooler and blustery with widespread showers and sunny breaks. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in fresh westerly winds. Scattered showers will continue on Friday but there will be longer dry spells in the east and northeast.
