Iran’s peace bid demands troop pullback and asset release

Iran’s peace – Iran has sent the U.S. a new peace proposal that asks Washington to remove troops from areas close to Iran, lift sanctions and end the U.S. naval blockade near the Strait of Hormuz, while also calling for release of frozen Iranian assets and war reparations. T

For days, the pressure has been building. Then, Tuesday’s pause arrived—no renewed strikes, no immediate escalation. Iran’s response was not a softer tone so much as a shopping list of demands, carried in a new peace proposal submitted to the United States this week.

The proposal centers on troop movements and economic pressure. It calls for the U.S. removing troops from areas close to Iran, paying war reparations, lifting sanctions, releasing frozen Iranian assets, and ending the U.S. naval blockade near the Strait of Hormuz.

Some versions of the proposal also include two additional sticking points: Iran’s right to uranium enrichment and a ceasefire on all fronts. Those demands overlap with elements of Iran’s last peace proposal, which President Donald Trump rejected last week, describing it as “garbage.”

The timing matters. The fresh terms landed after Trump said he was holding off on new attacks in Iran. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said U.S. allies in the Middle East asked him to pause while diplomatic efforts continue, with the goal of reaching a broader agreement “in the days ahead.”

Trump framed the pause as conditional—and emotional, in the way he described his preference to avoid violence. “There seems to be a very good chance that they can work something out. If we can do that without bombing the hell out of them, I would be very happy,” Trump told reporters Monday.

But when Trump talked about what any deal must accomplish, he left no wiggle room on Iran’s nuclear program. He said any agreement must require Iran to fully give up its nuclear capabilities, a requirement he said wasn’t addressed in the latest proposal.

Trump has also made clear that the window for talks is paired with readiness for force. He said he instructed the Pentagon to be “prepared to go forward with a full, large-scale assault of Iran, on a moment’s notice” if an acceptable deal is not reached.

Through it all, the ceasefire between the two countries still holds, but it remains fragile. The new Iranian proposal. with its demands for troop pullbacks. sanctions relief. frozen asset release. and an end to the naval blockade near the Strait of Hormuz. clashes with Trump’s insistence that nuclear capabilities must be fully given up—leaving both sides to square the gap before the pause ends.

  1. I keep hearing “peace proposal” but it sounds like a bunch of demands. Also wasn’t there already a blockade? Like are we just gonna end it because they say “please”?

  2. Trump said “don’t bomb the hell out of them” and now it’s a deal about nukes and reparations and troop pullbacks. I don’t get how anyone thinks Iran will give up enrichment when their whole thing is that they need it for energy. And the “pause” is probably just so they can regroup.

  3. Wait, I saw a clip where Trump said he wanted allies to ask Iran for uranium stuff but he’s also saying they have to fully give up nuclear capabilities. Those are like opposite things lol. Also “frozen assets” sounds like money we already paid them back? I’m not saying either side is good, but if we lift sanctions then what stops them from doing it again? The article says ceasefire is fragile but also talks about no renewed strikes like that’s peace… it just feels like more games with the Strait of Hormuz and shipping lanes.
