Investigator Paul Holes Challenges Suicide Verdict for Marilyn

Investigator Paul Holes says evidence revisited in his documentary “Celebrity Crime Scene: Marilyn Monroe” has left him with doubts about the official ruling that Marilyn Monroe’s 1962 death was a suicide, arguing the case should have been treated like a homic

Marilyn Monroe’s death has been settled in the public imagination for decades. But investigator Paul Holes says revisiting what happened in 1962 left him with a different feeling entirely—one that doesn’t match the official story.

On “TMZ Live” Friday. Holes discussed his new documentary. “Celebrity Crime Scene: Marilyn Monroe. ” and argued that Monroe’s passing “wasn’t a suicide. ” at least not in the way the case is generally framed. He told viewers that revisiting the evidence behind the Hollywood icon’s death brought “serious doubts” about the ruling.

Holes’ core contention is that the investigation should have treated Monroe’s death as a homicide until proven otherwise. He also pointed to what he described as major investigative failures, saying the way the case was handled didn’t match the questions the evidence should have demanded.

Then comes the part that makes his case land harder. Holes said he doesn’t believe the Los Angeles Police Department’s role can be explained simply by incompetence. Instead. he believes other forces may have shaped what really happened—“powerful people” who. in his view. were behind the circumstances surrounding Monroe’s death.

In the documentary, Holes and the rest of the CSI investigators take a deep dive into Monroe’s final hours. The program also revisits her affairs with President John F. Kennedy and Attorney General Robert Kennedy, along with additional elements he says challenge the official account.
