Indoor pickleball facility opens in Milpitas

A new dedicated indoor pickleball facility had its grand opening this month in McCarthy Ranch Plaza in Milpitas.
The Picklr, located at 128 Ranch Drive, features 16 indoor courts—including two championship-size courts—along with a pro shop and space for private events. Members can participate in open play, leagues, tournaments and professional training.

City’s new hires
The City of Milpitas recently hired Scott Transou as assistant city manager and Hamed Zadran as its new building official.
Prior to joining Milpitas, Transou served as assistant city manager for the City of Compton, supporting executive leadership on citywide operations and organizational initiatives. Milpitas City Manager Willie Hopkins was hired in May after serving as city manager for Compton since late 2023.
Earlier in his career, Transou held leadership roles with Alameda County, managing complex public programs and driving operational improvements. As assistant city manager, Transou helps coordinate citywide initiatives, supports organizational priorities and works with departments to services to the Milpitas community.
Zadran brings more than 15 years of experience in architecture, engineering, construction, building code compliance, inspections, permitting and project management to his role as building official. Prior to joining Milpitas, Zadran served as building official and permitting program manager for Presidio Trust, overseeing plan reviews, permits, inspections and code enforcement. He also founded and led HZK Consulting Engineers, securing contracts up to $2 million and managing inspections, consultants and safety improvements.
As building official, Zadran will lead the city’s Building Division and support development throughout Milpitas.
