Idaho Survivor Bethany Funke Posts TikTok Painting Years On

Nearly four years after the University of Idaho killings of Kaylee Goncalves, Maddie Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, Bethany Funke has returned to TikTok—sharing a Bob Ross-inspired landscape painting set to Olivia Dean’s “I’ve Seen It.”
Bethany Funke—one of the two surviving roommates from the University of Idaho student home—has come back to social media nearly four years after the murders that shocked the nation.
Bryan Kohberger took the lives of Kaylee Goncalves, Maddie Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin in 2022, and with time passing, Funke’s return now lands in a place many people still associate with grief, silence, and unanswered questions.
On TikTok, Funke shared a video featuring her own Bob Ross-inspired painting. The piece is a landscape showing a river running between trees under a vivid pink afternoon sky. The art is paired with Olivia Dean’s song “I’ve Seen It. ” turning the post into something that’s at once personal and quietly cinematic.
In the clip, Funke displays the completed work and lets the music carry the moment. The video is tagged with “bobrosspainting” and “bobrosinspired painting,” and it closes with the kind of calm that stands in sharp contrast to what the four students endured.
The caption and hashtags point to the artist behind the brushstroke, but the timing carries weight. For viewers, the message isn’t just about a new painting—it’s also about a survivor finding a way back to the platform after years away from the spotlight.
Funke’s post has already drawn strong reactions online. Many comments have focused on how beautiful the painting is, and others have expressed hope that she’s been able to find peace in the years since the killings.
With so much time having passed since Kohberger’s attack, her return still feels like a reminder: after major tragedy, moving forward is rarely linear—and sometimes, it arrives quietly, one video at a time.

The painting is actually really pretty.
I saw this on my feed and it’s like… wow. Part of me is happy she’s posting again but another part is still like why TikTok at all, you know? Either way the song choice is haunting.
So is this like her coming out with evidence or something? Because I keep seeing posts that say she knows more than she’s said, and idk if this is related or just artsy. Bob Ross style feels weirdly ironic to me honestly.
I don’t get why people are acting like a landscape painting fixes anything. Like I’m glad she’s alive, obviously, but the whole thing still makes me sick. Also I thought Kohberger already was found guilty or whatever, so the “unanswered questions” thing is confusing. Maybe I missed an update. But yeah the pink sky is pretty.
