“I love the inflation”: Trump interrupts report in Oval Office

When a reporter tried to move to the actual inflation numbers on Wednesday inside the Oval Office, President Donald Trump didn’t let it land. He interrupted, smiling through the moment, and insisted—more than once—that he “love[s] the inflation.”
“ I love the inflation,” Trump said, stopping the reporter before the data could be put on the table. “No, I love it. The numbers were great,” he added, even as the figures he was brushing past pointed the other way. The inflation report showed inflation hit a three-year high last month. driven by rising gas prices and a 4.2% increase in the cost of consumer goods compared to last year.
The president kept going. “You know what I really love?. I love the inflation. ” he said again. returning to the theme as if the outcome were the point rather than the problem. Editor’s note was not included in the transcript itself. but the mismatch between what he said and what the data showed was plain: inflation. by the report’s own measure. was not “great.”.
Trump’s explanation soon veered into a different argument entirely. In the same stretch of conversation that’s difficult to follow in a straightforward line. he said high inflation was good because the U.S. has been “taking out millions of barrels of oil” from Iran in secret. “I can say it now — something you didn’t know,” Trump told the room. “Did you know we’ve been taking out millions of barrels of oil?. Nobody knows it. You know who doesn’t know about it?. Iran, until right now.”.
Then he described the details of how the operation was concealed. “We took out, the other night, 22 ships,” Trump said. “Late at night. with no lights.” He added that the ships did not have radar. saying. “Because they don’t have any radar. ” before describing what he said happened next: “because we blasted the crap out of it.”.
In his telling, the impact of that confrontation fed directly into energy prices. “We took out — that’s why oil’s $85 a barrel. You take a look.”
The inflation figures he dismissed were immediate and personal by design. Gas prices are felt at the pump. and consumer goods costs are felt in household budgets—precisely the kind of daily reality inflation reports usually measure. Trump’s remarks pushed attention elsewhere. tying the economic headline to an account of covert activity. with his insistence that the numbers were “great” running alongside the report’s warning signs.
The president also pivoted—again—to optics. “One would think Trump would be more concerned about inflation given the rising cost of his $200 million ― wait. no. actually $400 million… wait. nope: actually $1 billion-plus ballroom. ” the piece notes. capturing how quickly the moment turned from inflation statistics to the scale of his administration’s spending and the shifting numbers that surrounded it.

lol he really said that?
So basically inflation went up and he’s like “I love it”?? Maybe he means like inflation is good for him personally or something. Idk why reporters keep letting him talk like that.
I think the numbers are fake honestly. If they were that bad they’d show it on the news more or he wouldn’t be smiling. Also the gas price thing, isn’t that like always? And the Iran oil barrels part sounds like conspiracy bait.
He interrupts to say he “loves the inflation” and then jumps to oil barrels with Iran… like what does that even have to do with grocery prices. They say it hit a three-year high which is not “great,” so he’s just dodging. I swear politicians act like reality is optional sometimes, and everyone’s just supposed to clap.
