Hunter Goodman’s three homers sink Twins 8-5

Hunter Goodman clubbed three home runs and drove in five as the Colorado Rockies beat the Minnesota Twins 8-5 on Saturday night in Minneapolis.
MINNEAPOLIS — The night started with a warning and ended with it becoming impossible to ignore. Hunter Goodman struck for three home runs and five RBIs, lifting the Colorado Rockies to an 8-5 win over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night.
Goodman opened the scoring with a solo shot in the first inning. He added another in the third off starter Mike Paredes, then after grounding out in the fifth, he turned the game into a runaway moment in the seventh.
In that seventh inning, Goodman connected for his 25th homer of the season — a three-run drive to left-centre off reliever Kody Funderburk — stretching Colorado’s lead to 6-2. Kyle Karros then made it feel even more final with a two-run homer in the eighth.
When the Twins tried to claw back late, Trevor Larnach answered. Larnach delivered a three-run double in the ninth to cut the deficit to 8-5. Jimmy Herget came on afterward to get two outs and collect his third save.
On the mound, Michael Lorenzen earned his first win since April 24. He went 5.2 innings, allowing two runs and seven hits. For Minnesota, Paredes couldn’t find his rhythm, giving up three runs and eight hits in 5.1 innings to take the loss.
Colorado’s lead didn’t arrive all at once — it built. Jake McCarthy hit a one-out triple in the fifth and scored on Mickey Moniak’s groundout to put the Rockies ahead 3-1.
Minnesota got their first answer early. Kody Clemens’ RBI single tied it 1-all in the first. The Twins later added a run in the sixth when Josh Bell led off with his first triple since April 5, 2025, with Washington. Bell scored on Victor Caratini’s sacrifice fly to cut Colorado’s lead to 3-2.
The game leaves the series with one clear storyline heading into Sunday: Ryan Feltner will take the ball for the Rockies (2-2, 4.79 ERA), facing Connor Prielipp for Minnesota (2-5, 5.17) in the series finale.
