Humanoid robot strolls Mallorca promenade, crowds gather

Visitors enjoying a stroll through the Santa Catalina area of Puerto Soller at the weekend were treated to an unexpected spectacle when a humanoid robot walked along the seafront, drawing crowds of curious onlookers. The futuristic-looking machine, capable of moving autonomously, was accompanied by several people as it made its way through the busy promenade. Footage shared on social media shows the robot confidently weaving between pedestrians, crossing the road and navigating the harbour area while apparently being supervised by a man walking behind it.

Dozens of locals and tourists stopped to watch the unusual sight, with many reaching for their mobile phones to film the robot as it passed. The video has since spread widely online, attracting thousands of views and sparking discussion. Although there were no reported incidents and the robot appeared to remain under control throughout the demonstration, its appearance has reignited debate about the rapid pace of advances in robotics and how humanoid machines could become part of everyday life in the years ahead. Humanoid robots

are still a rare sight on public streets in Mallorca, making the appearance at Port de Soller all the more striking. Whether it was a technology demonstration or simply a publicity stunt, the encounter transformed the popular seaside destination into one of the island’s most talked-about locations for the day.
