Megyn Kelly’s Tribute To Dolly Parton Goes South Real Quick: ‘Shut The F**k Up’

It’s safe to say that if the plot of “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” was going down today in real life, Megyn Kelly would tear Dolly Parton’s character to shreds on her podcast.

On Tuesday, Parton’s family announced on Instagram that the universally beloved country music legend died. She was 80.

The news prompted Kelly to take to X and do something … nice.

In a tribute post to the late singer/songwriter, the right-wing pundit wrote: “Dolly Parton seemed as close to total goodness as any mere mortal could come.”

“She united us all in our love and admiration for her and, now, in mourning her,” Kelly added. “God bless you Dolly. R.I.P.”

The tone of Kelly’s post threw many of her critics off, considering that the former Fox News host, now right-wing podcaster, has a habit of smearing women, spewing hate and advocating for pretty evil policies.

And although the “Jolene” singer made it a point never to speak publicly about politics, her actions did the talking through successful philanthropic efforts throughout her life.

This includes, but is not limited to, establishing the Dollywood Foundation in 1988 to reduce high school dropout rates; launching the Imagination Library in 1995, which sends books to children to combat illiteracy; and donating millions to medical research and emergency relief. She also consistently advocated for the LGBTQ community, challenged sexism and starred in —and wrote the theme song for — a film that’s considered a feminist classic, “9 to 5.”

Because of Kelly and Parton’s seemingly opposite values, Kelly’s tribute post quickly went south. Left-leaning X users couldn’t help but point out the irony, while others chafed at the mere act of Kelly typing out Parton’s name. To see the responses, scroll down.
