It’s that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it’s sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.
Here are today’s latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…
Hull lead race for Norwegian star
Hull City are ready to fend off interest from Rangers and Cardiff City to sign highly-rated Norwegian midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl.
Cardiff had offered a club record fee for the 20-year-old from Tromso but Hull are offering him the chance to play in the Premier League.
The 6ft 4ins defensive midfielder has captained Norway at youth level and is an U21 international.
Hull are also advancing in talks for 18-year-old centre back Lucas Herrington from Colorado Rapids and winger Mohamed-Ali Cho from Nice.
Everton discuss £7m Norgaard move
Everton are in talks with Arsenal over a £7million deal for midfielder Christian Norgaard.
The 32-year-old has been on Everton’s radar for some time as agreement over a new contract for veteran Idrissa Gana Gueye looked increasingly unlikely. They also have James Garner sidelined for the start of the season after groin surgery.
Norgaard would become Everton’s fourth summer recruit after the £24m arrival of Hayden Hackney, while Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl joined permanently.
Christian Norgaard is wanted by Everton – with the Toffees keen to complete a £7million deal
Norgaard made seven league appearances for Arsenal last season and 20 overall.
He joined last summer from Brentford in a £15m deal but wanted more game time. He also had offers from Turkey and Saudi Arabia but was keen to stay in the Premier League.
Arsenal want to upgrade their midfield with Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.
The Toffees are also in talks over a move for Manchester United striker Ethan Wheatley.
The deal is viewed as one for the club’s academy. Everton technical director Nick Cox worked with Wheatley while with United’s academy.
The 20-year-old Wheatley was on loan at Bradford City last season and has been considering offers from abroad.
Dutch side Cambuur were keen to take him on loan.
