Hulk Hogan death probe closes with no criminal evidence

After nearly 11 months of investigation, Clearwater police say they found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing in Hulk Hogan’s death. Authorities say the case will be closed as a non-criminal matter, concluding he died of natural causes despite family questions

For nearly 11 months, investigators in Clearwater, Florida have been trying to answer one question—what, exactly, led Hulk Hogan to stop breathing at his home.

On Friday, police said their work ended with a clear conclusion: there is “no evidence” of criminal wrongdoing. Rob Shaw. a spokesperson for the Clearwater Police Department. said the nearly yearlong probe included interviews with witnesses and reviews of “various recordings. ” and investigators are now officially calling Hogan’s case “an attended natural death.”.

Shaw said investigators want to thank Hogan’s family—Sky. Nick. and Brooke—and their attorney. Kevin Hayslett. for their cooperation. He described how allowing investigators access to “very personal information. ” at a time when the family was grieving. was “extremely helpful.” Shaw also said the department “would not have had the legal justification to obtain much of the information without their cooperation.”.

Hogan—real name Terry Bollea—died on July 24, 2025, at his Clearwater, Florida residence. The case file released Friday included a 70-page case master report that authorities say sheds light on what Hogan’s final days looked like.

Investigators wrote that several people close to Hogan told them he had been in rough shape following multiple recent surgeries. On the day of his death. Hogan had been with his wife. Sky. and two healthcare workers when they suddenly noticed he had stopped breathing while sitting in his recliner. according to the report. The report says Sky called 911 and one of the medical professionals administered CPR. Hogan was then taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Authorities said at the time they did not suspect foul play.

Hogan was 71 years old.

Still, the family’s concerns did not disappear. Brooke, Hogan’s daughter, had publicly said multiple times after his death that she had significant questions about how he died.

In the report, police point to medical findings from a private autopsy. Investigators wrote that Hogan died “exclusively from compelling natural disease. ” with “no reasonable traumatic or terminal toxicologic contributions.” They also said their review included “an exhaustive” look at statements. medical records. surveillance footage from within the residence. and a visual inspection of Hogan’s body.

Investigators wrote that there has been “no evidence to indicate the death of Terry Bollea was anything other than natural.” They added that throughout the investigation there has been “no evidence to indicate any criminal wrongdoing related to his death.”

“This case will be closed, and will be considered solved, non-criminal.”

As the department moves to close the investigation, the family’s questions remain the stark contrast in the record—police say the evidence points to natural causes, while Brooke had said she believed something about the circumstances deserved answers beyond what had been publicly explained.
