Erika Kirk was about 11 minutes into her address when the room’s tone changed.

At Turning Point USA’s Women’s Women’s Leadership Summit, the TPUSA CEO—widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk—was delivering a 17-minute speech on faith, conservative values and more when a heckler interrupted her by shouting “Erika Kirk protects pedophiles” more than once.

Kirk scoffed at the remark and, in the minutes that followed, attendees pushed back hard. People in the room called for the heckler to “go away” and “get out of here.” Others began booing. Kirk then stood silently for a few beats before she continued her speech. apparently adjusting her remarks in the wake of the disruption.

“It’s important to remember that happiness comes and goes and I pray that you find it,” Kirk said.

Supporters responded immediately. Kirk’s supporters erupted into a round of applause and a standing ovation over the comment, prompting her to add, “Love you guys. That’s an important moment because that just showed duty to faithfulness gives life meaning.”

She continued by speaking directly about prayer and conflict. “And we must pray for our enemies and those that do not feel like their life has meaning. And that’s a perfect example of that,” Kirk said.

Kirk also clarified that, in her framing, the heckler was not the enemy. “Though, Kirk noted the heckler was ‘not the enemy,’ adding, ‘We know who the real enemy is.’”

A representative for TPUSA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The heckler did not name names beyond the accusation shouted during Kirk’s address. But Kirk has been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, who has faced accusations of sexual misconduct tied to the Epstein files.

After Trump was mentioned thousands of times in the files. the DOJ stated in December that the “documents contain[ed] untrue and sensationalist claims made against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election. ” adding. “To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false. and if they had a shred of credibility. they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already.”.
