Hilton offers Pratt a job after mayor defeat

Hilton offers – Steve Hilton says he’d bring Spencer Pratt into his California governor administration if he defeats Xavier Becerra in November—one political lifeline for a former MTV star reeling after losing his Los Angeles mayoral bid.

Spencer Pratt may have been knocked out of the race for mayor of Los Angeles, but his post-defeat moment is quickly turning into a new kind of political pitch.

On June 9. Steve Hilton— the British-born Republican candidate for governor of California—told Fox 11 that he was impressed by Pratt’s campaign energy and what he described as substantive plans. especially on homelessness. Hilton. 56. said he admired Pratt. who is 42. for “a lot of attention with his brilliant campaigning. social media dominance. ” adding that Pratt also had “some really important things to say” with ideas Hilton said he “fully support[s]. ” particularly around homelessness.

Hilton didn’t stop at praise. When asked whether he would make room for Pratt in a hypothetical administration, he answered, “Of course.” He said, “My door would be open,” while also suggesting he wouldn’t rush anything given Pratt’s current state after “what happened right now.”

The offer comes after Pratt’s upstart campaign against Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass went farther than many expected. Many believed he was the favorite to secure second place in the city’s primary and face Bass in a November run-off. Instead, Pratt was overtaken and defeated by progressive Nithya Raman in the primary, ending his mayoral aspirations.

Pratt’s political stance on homelessness has been part of why he drew both attention and backlash. The source recounts that he said homeless people choose to remain on the streets so they can abuse drugs and torture animals.

After the loss, the reaction inside the MAGA orbit was immediate and loud, with no evidence offered. Donald Trump and J.D. Vance both suggested something shady must have been going on in California. Trump said, “All I have to do is look” to tell that the election was “stolen” from Pratt. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson made a similar argument. saying the theft was carried out so skillfully that no evidence would have been left behind.

Johnson spoke on June 8, saying, “Look, some of these efforts are so diabolical and so far upstream it’s impossible to prove. But I think everybody knows instinctively that something is wrong here.”

Pratt’s own behavior since the defeat has been equally hard to read. His first post-loss tweet was a picture of a duck. Since then, the normally active Pratt has posted a picture of a duck and a shot at Jimmy Kimmel.

Pratt has yet to comment on his election defeat or Hilton’s offer of a job in his administration. For now, Hilton—who faces Democrat Xavier Becerra in November—has left the door open, effectively turning a humiliating loss into a potential backdoor path into California politics.

  1. Wait I thought Spencer Pratt got famous for like… TV drama, not homelessness policy. But sure, offer him a job if he helps you win. Makes sense I guess.

  2. Pratt says homeless people stay out there to abuse drugs and torture animals? I mean that sounds fake or exaggerated? But if it’s true then why is anyone supporting him?? Also Hilton said “of course” like it’s no big deal, like hiring people doesn’t matter.

  3. This is the part that gets me… they act like losing an LA mayor race is just a warm-up, then suddenly “door would be open” for a whole governor admin. Next thing you know it’s like reality TV casting calls but for Sacramento. And didn’t Xavier Becerra have something to do with this too? I’m confused but honestly I feel like homelessness is just being used as a talking point for clicks.
