beyond the Litani River, which is recognized as the northern boundary of a buffer zone that’s been in place since the 2006 ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group. In recent days Israel has issued evacuation orders for residents across much of southern Lebanon, as it says it’s expanding ground operations to strengthen its military position against Hezbollah, in a move that marks a significant escalation in the conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been under international pressure, including from U.S. President Donald

Trump, to engage in a new ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. (Photo by Adri Salido/Getty Images)Photographer: Adri SalidoProvider: Getty ImagesSource: Getty Images EuropeCopyright: 2026 Getty Images

  1. I keep seeing Nabatieh pop up and it’s always smoke. Like why aren’t they just doing a ceasefire already? Also Trump said something so maybe this ends soon… or maybe it gets worse.

  2. Wait Hezbollah rockets hit and then Israel strikes the city… so whose fault is it exactly? I’m not saying I support either side but when they say “expanding ground operations” that sounds like they’re already planning more deaths, you know? And the buffer zone since 2006 makes it feel like this was supposed to stop.

  3. They say at least 16 dead and 33 wounded but then it’s like “several salvoes” and “evacuation orders” so is it actually the rockets killing people or the airstrikes? My cousin said the river boundary thing means Israel can basically do whatever they want which… doesn’t sound right, but I don’t know. Sad either way. Netanyahu always talks like he has a plan and then it turns into this.
