Hendry father: Just has ‘going places’ buzz

Just is – Colin Hendry says his son, Callum’s teammate Just, told him he’s “going places” after a standout World Cup debut and a breakout season at Motherwell. The former Scotland and Rangers defender also suggests Celtic interest could already be turning into concrete

For every transfer rumor, there’s usually a moment when belief hardens into something louder—something that doesn’t sound like hype anymore.

Colin Hendry says he heard that moment from his own son. The former Scotland and Rangers defender believes his teammate’s teammate, Motherwell standout Just, is the kind of player who “has got” to move up the levels.

Hendry’s comments come with Celtic and Rangers both believed to be tracking the New Zealander, along with other clubs. Interest, he said, only sharpened after Just scored a double in his country’s first World Cup game.

Last season, Motherwell’s surprise run in the Scottish Premiership brought his performances into sharper focus. Hendry points to how “Just was the one that stuck out for Motherwell,” and how he played with Hendry’s son Callum. Hendry says he saw the confidence arrive in conversation.

He told Best Betting Sites: “Just was the one that stuck out for Motherwell, and he played with my son Callum, and I said to Callum, and he said, yeah, Dad, he’s going places.”

In the same remarks, Hendry tied that confidence to what he sees as proof under pressure. “And you can see that because, again, on the biggest stage in the world, he’s providing, he’s showing up, and he’s bringing his stuff to the table.”

Just’s stock also rose through recognition at the domestic level. He was named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year, alongside several teammates.

Hendry’s tone shifts again when he talks about what bigger clubs might do next. “So I would think, if Celtic are really, really, really interested, I would be making a move.”

He even goes further—suggesting the negotiations may already be underway. “But they may even have opened the negotiations.”

Hendry is careful not to claim certainty. “You don’t know these things.”

But he returns to the same conviction he expressed about the player’s trajectory. “But I’d be surprised if he didn’t go up the levels, as he’s improved, and he’s doing what he’s doing ever so well for New Zealand.”
