Magic fans don’t have to wait for HBO’s new Harry Potter series to start stocking up. By the time the reboot lands on 25 December, Funko is already leaning into the darker side of the Wizarding World—rolling out a new line built around Voldemort’s faithful servants.
Later this year. a new generation will be introduced to Harry. Ron. and Hermione as HBO rolls out the new Harry Potter series. The show is showrun by Francesca Gardiner and directed by Mark Mylod. and it’s aiming for both nostalgia and the kind of deep-book expansion that the original movies didn’t always have time for. In the trailer. viewers have already seen hints that the series will flesh out characters and moments previously left off screen—everything from the poltergeist Peeves to Harry’s life with the Dursleys before he gets his letter.
Funko’s new set mirrors that same appetite for the franchise’s scarier corners. Fans will soon find Pops of Fenrir Greyback, Bellatrix Lestrange, Lucius Malfoy, and a Death Eater. And for collectors who want to begin immediately. figurines are already available featuring Harry Potter with Hedwig. Aberforth Dumbledore with Mirror Shard. and Severus Snape with Patronus.
The reboot itself is also building its world through casting and production details. Dominic McLaughlin has been cast as the titular character. with Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. The staffroom additions include John Lithgow as headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall. and Paapa Essiedu as iconic double agent Severus Snape. Nick Frost joins as the loveable gameskeeper Rubeus Hagrid.
In this longer TV series format. the makers have been filling in gaps with behind-the-scenes images showing Dumbledore meeting his friend Nicolas Flamel and his wife. along with images of Harry’s parents. James and Lily. Even longtime fans are set to get something fresh through the inclusion of characters previously ignored in major on-screen storytelling—Peeves. played by Peter Serafinowicz. Season 1 has already been completed, and the second season is currently filming.
