Hayley Kiyoko brought her directorial debut, Girls Like Girls, to the big screen with a premiere on Monday, June 15, at Universal Studios AMC in Universal City, California—packed with stars from the cast, the soundtrack, and friends and collaborators.
Hayley Kiyoko stepped into the spotlight on Monday, June 15, alongside the stars of her new film Girls Like Girls—turning Universal Studios AMC in Universal City, Calif., into a full-blown homecoming for her next creative chapter.
The 35-year-old entertainer is making her feature film directorial debut with the movie. which is based on her novel and song/music video of the same name. At the premiere. she joined Maya da Costa and Myra Molloy. along with a lineup of familiar faces from the cast and the world surrounding the project.
More of the film’s supporters filled out the event. Alozie LaRose. Sierra Sidwell. Hunter Dillon. Sophia Carriere. and Alexa Mareka were also there. as well as Snow Wife and Chelsea Cutler—both featured on the accompanying soundtrack album. Stefanie Scott. who co-wrote the project and starred in the original “Girls Like Girls” music video. joined as well. along with producer Marc Platt.
The night didn’t just belong to the film’s creative team. Hayley’s fiancée, Becca Tilley, showed up in support. Myra Molloy’s He’s All That co-star. Madison Pettis. was on hand too. along with Chrishell Stause and G Flip. Lauren Jauregui, Sherry Cola, Marisela Zumbado, Tove Lo, Thora Birch, Isabel Deroy-Olson, and Julia Garcia rounded out the guest list.
Girls Like Girls is a heartfelt coming-of-age story set over the course of one sun-drenched summer. New-girl-in-town Coley falls in love for the first time while learning to accept herself along the way.
The film also stars Zach Braff and Levon Hawke. Girls Like Girls is set to hit theaters THIS Friday, June 19. The trailer is available to watch here.

So is this like a sequel to the old music video? I’m confused why it says coming-of-age and also based on her novel and song. Like which one came first lol.
I saw the trailer and thought it was already out? It’s set for THIS Friday June 19, right? Also Zach Braff is in it and I’m like… how did he end up in a coming-of-age gay romance movie, sounds random but I’m here for it.
The guest list is wild, like Chrishell Stause and Thora Birch and Tove Lo… I feel like the actual movie story is secondary. Also “Girls Like Girls” premieres Monday June 15 but theaters June 19, so was it shown to the public on Monday or just influencers? And why does it say Universal Studios AMC, isn’t that just a mall theater? Either way I hope it’s not too cheesy.
