Hayden Panettiere Praises Paris Jackson After Addiction

On “The Morning Show” Thursday, May 28, Hayden Panettiere praised Paris Jackson for her sobriety journey and for being honest about the addiction-driven behavior she says she used to display.
Hayden Panettiere didn’t hesitate when asked about the addiction issues Paris Jackson has been laying bare. On “The Morning Show” on Thursday, May 28, Panettiere, 36, said she related to what Jackson has shared and praised her strength through it all.
The conversation began when Panettiere was asked whether she connected with some of the concerns Paris had recently been open about dealing with. Jackson. 28. is the daughter of late pop star Michael Jackson. and she has spoken candidly about the “ugly behavior” she says she engaged in when she hit the bottle.
During a Tuesday. May 26 appearance on Jack Osbourne’s “Trying Not to Die” podcast. Jackson described what changed for her when drinking took over. “The behavior is really ugly. It’s really ugly behavior in a moral way. because I was raised to be kind — and not nice. ” she said. adding. “I could give a s**t about being nice — but being kind and looking people in the eye and asking the waiter their name so you can write it down on the receipt later. just little things of. just like. how do you treat people?”.
Panettiere said seeing Jackson navigate her own difficulties has moved her. “I actually just saw Paris and she’s an incredible person, incredibly strong. To see somebody who’s also battled addiction and made it through — she’s such a powerful. beautiful person. ” Panettiere said on “The Morning Show.” She added. “And you would think… I mean growing up with a family the way that she has and now that she’s you know. putting her music out there. it’s just… I’m really proud of her.”.
Jackson’s honesty has also shown up in her own words online. On Saturday. January 3. she wrote via Instagram that “Getting sober ain’t always the indication that life is perfect. ” sharing a montage of moments from the past year. She followed it by describing what she says disappears when she drinks: “What happens when I drink is that goes away. That goes right out the window and I become a very vindictive person.”.
Panettiere’s comments land with extra weight because she has been there too. The Nashville star has fought her own demons, and in her new memoir, This Is Me: The Reckoning, she shared details of her addiction battle and her experience in rehab.
Speaking to Us Weekly earlier this month to promote the book. Panettiere explained that eight months in rehab—her third stint—helped her find herself again. She said, “It was time. I finally had the time to stay in treatment and let my brain re-heal and rewire itself and a lot of that is just simply time. I had never stayed in treatment that long.” She described reaching a point where it clicked: “I would make these small leaps and little by little. And I remember getting to about eight months and going. ‘Oh my gosh. now I know what they mean when they say “gotten over the hump.”’”.
Panettiere continued, “Even though it takes patience and you hit walls, and there’s nothing about it that’s easy, it is so worth it. There’s no drug in the world that can recreate the feeling of genuine health and happiness and contentment, being content.”
For Panettiere. the message appears to be simple: addiction can strip away who you try to be. and sobriety isn’t a finish line so much as a fight you keep choosing. In praising Paris Jackson’s candor. she also underlined the same thing she said she learned in treatment—progress may be slow. but it can change everything.
